ive been bleeding for a month

im 21 and have never really had a regular period, i would skip a month or would have it but for no more than 5 days. these last few months i have been getting my period somewhat regularly give or take a few days, but nov 12 i got my period and it hasnt gone away. about 2 weeks ago the cramps got to be extremely painful and the blood flow has been constant. so i went to the hospital, they sent me home on provera with no answer on why. i have been taking the provera and it hasnt even slowed down my bleeding. the cramps got even worse so i went back to the hospital but went to a different one close by hoping to get an actual answer and hopefully a solution. well that went as well as the first time. they gave me a doctor at a clinic to follow up with and i wont get in to see this guy until the 2nd week of january. i am in horrible pain to the point where it hurts to stand. i cant keep missing work. what is this? how can i solve it? what do i do? someone please help.
