    What Do You Need to Do?

    The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

  • Do NOT over-wash your face. This can aggravate your skin and just cause more oil production.
    Always wash skin gently and avoid harsh products or scrubbing. I use organic and moisturizing products no more than twice a day. Afterwards, gently pat your face dry (never pull), and pat moisturizer on areas that are dry (esp. gently around the eye area).

    * Never wash your face with HOT water. Keep the temperature always a gentle cool to lukewarm.

    * Pro Activ Refining Mask is good for "on the spot" acne treatment. Place a dab exactly on the zit.

    * Do not pile on too many products at once. This can just aggravate your skin and could cause a reaction.

    * Do not use scrubs or exfoliators when your skin is broken out - it will just aggravate and redden the skin more.

    * Adjust your diet: Cut out sugary and starchy foods, along with milk and milk products. Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet, and avoid foods that contain lots of grease or artificial ingredients. Try to eat an organic or "clean" diet if possible.

    * Drink more green tea and water. Cut out soda, alcohol and sugary juices.

    * Exercise more. Even a half and hour on the treadmill helps your body sweat out some toxins. Make sure your face is clean, and try to incorporate some cardio into your daily routine. The more you sweat, the better it is for your skin. (Gently rinse off your face after the workout also.)
    (Exercise also helps reduce stress, which can be a big trigger of breakouts!)

    * Take supplements (such as Zinc and Vitamin C) can help improve overall skin appearance. (Take no more than the recommended amount on the bottle!)

    * Avoid pore clogging makeup. Look for products that say 'noncomedogenic' instead.

    * Avoid bacteria by keeping dirty hands off your face. Also take an antibacterial wipe and wipe off your phones, cell phones and Blackberry on a regular basis to keep them clean
    Wash your pillowcase on a regular basis also.

    * Wash all makeup off at night. While you sleep, your pores open up and absorb what is on your face. So make sure your face is clean. Nighttime is also the ideal time for face treatments and more moisturizing.

    * Whenever trying out a new product, always use a small "test" amount first, to make sure your skin does not have an allergic reaction.
