    Please. I've had to cope with this disorder for most of my adolescent-adult life. According to the APA's DSM standards in defining mental illness, a condition that interferes with one's ability to function on a daily basis (i.e. to carry-out the basic routines of daily life), basically defines what it means to have a psychological disorder. For those if us who truly must cope with our ADHD on a daily basis, there's nothing glorious or sexy about it. I often feel like my brain is 'channel-surfing', only I don't have control over the remote. It's very debilitating as well as embarrassing at times. And I've managed to work hard enough to complete both Doctorate and Medical Degrees. Yet still it's a daily struggle.
