I would talk to your son's Dr. about his behaviors, and get some advice about local behavioral clinics or where you can get him some good help.

Does your son see a specialist, and/or a Psychiatrist ?

Parenting a child like this is hard work - - I hope you have some good support?

How are things going in school for him?

I , myself, had a similar problem but mine started in junior high and persisted until age 40, I was a very sneaky little boy.
Of course, it got to a point that my stealing was detected and I was almost caught. That was a signal to me, to seek professional help. What I found out was, not only ADHD, but also dysthemia, chronic low grade depression and anxiety.

I have found that medications to control my anxiety and depression as well as the adhd, really helped me as they short circuited the need to be compulsive in my behaviours. I learned to channel them into healthier outlets. I am now 50 years of age and I am doing well enough, stabilized, gone back to school, worked a bit.. this is a longterm problem. Being gainfully employed for the long term.

Support groups that feature some degree of spirituality helps too.

thanks I hope that helps.

Hello Mom, First of all knowing your reaching out is AWESOME! you want the best for your son, wanting him to have a positive childhood. Amazon has some fantastic books by Joy Wilt Berry called How to be good, subjects like Stealing or Lying that my be helpful. I pray all suggestions provided will help, take it one day at a time and no matter what the issue I always let my son know today is a new day yesterday is done!!! Try to get the school to work with you and come up with a reward system that does not include food as the prize, very important....... Your in my prayers, take a moment for yourself to BREATHE!!!
