I am almost thirty and still struggling every day.. In my line of work Life and safety are at risk when I zone out. Recently, I have been using an internal 3 count while on patrol or a specific task. The 3 count serves the same purpose as music in the background etc. The mind that wants to drift is counting while you're dotting Is and crossing Ts. When the inevitable zone out occurs I use the cue word to snap back into awareness. My word is ocean. Ocean waves are cyclical. The cycle is never broken and that's how I try to visualize my concentration. Stay positive.
