Allergy testing
Buckeye1621 posted:
My daughter is going for an allergy test Monday afternoon. She hasnt taken her zyrtec for 4 days now. She was complaining about her eyes late last night. Very uncomfortable and red. So we went to get eye drops. Pharmacy wasnt open. I think that I gave her the wrong drops. late Saturday night. Gave her one drop of pheniramine maleate in one eye only. Will one drop in one eye affect the test Monday afternoon?

The best thing to do would be to call the doctor's office before you leave for the apointment. I doubt that it will be a problem, but it is best to ask. The testing is expensive and you don't want to have false negatives because of the eye drops.

You can get an eye wash kit from any pharmacy like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS... Whatever big chain you have close to you. They can be found in the contact/eye care section. I have an antique eye wash cup that I put prepared contact lens saline in and use. It MUST be saline only - NO CLEANERS. I usually get 2 bottles for about $2.50 at Walgreens. You could also make a steril saline solution by boiling 8 oz of water for 5 minutes and then stiring in 1/4 tsp salt.

I hope that helps and you find answers for your daughter.

God bless.
