Possible allergies from air pollution?

I'm 24 and just moved into San Fern Valley, Los Angeles from Florida. I'm almost certain the symptoms have started since:

- Nasal congestion that almost never stops. I can breathe through nose. It feels like it is higher into the sinuses? Sniffing the mucus toward the back of my throat is almost becoming a habit. It's more annoying and embarrassing than anything else.
- Stinging eyes that comes and go. Trying to drink more water.

There is no pain so it doesn't sound like a sinus infection? I have experienced allergies my entire life including cats, dust, pollen, skin allergies etc.. Zyrtec has worked for me in the past. I am considering taking it again, however I wanted to get a second opinion first. The only thing I am taking now is fish oil. I don't take medication unless I have to. Also, I had an annual physical right before I moved and doctor said I was very healthy (symptoms had not started yet).

ANY suggestions would be great to remove this annoying mucus!!! Thank you to anyone who can help me!

NBNWV, check pollen, pollution daily reports for your area. Sounds like you have allergy & air pollution problems. Use refresh lubricating eye drops before you go outside. Wash you nose & sinuses out with salt water. Wear a pollen mask when you go outside. Run the fan, air conditioning in your room & car. You might need a hepa air filter in your bedroom. Sorry, it sounds like you've moved to area with allergens for you. Allergies can start anytime, anywhere for a person. Have you talked to your family doctor about your health problems? Ask doctor about taking Zyrtec again as it worked for you in the past. Your new allergy problems should be documented by your doctor.

Thanks for the input, Whippet. I will look into these suggestions. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a sinus infection. It sounds more like allergies. It's not progressive and seems to fluctuate. Any more input is also appreciated. Thanks.

NBNWV, Glad to listen. You said your synthoms aren't progressive & seem to fluctuate. Please keep track of what you come into contact with, where, when you seem to have more problems. It sounds like you are being exposed to something(s) you are allergic to. Please do check your area's pollen, air pollution reports, are your health problems worse outdoors? Do you use the air conditioning in your car? The car's air conditioner helps reduce pollens, air pollution while you drive. Do you leave your windows open in the mornings? Early AM is when pollens are most active. Rain fall seems to clean the air out for a while. And when the temps fall below 45F the pollens aren't airborne. Hope any & all of this helps you. Please talk to your doctor about your health concerns.
