I haven't tried

Well, I certainly haven't tried to get ANYONE pregnant... nor have I tried to get myself pregnant (that would be interesting).

I'm sure you'll get lots of advice from the women on here, but I'm going to take it a step up and mention the importance of your husband making sure he's ready for it as well.

If he hasn't already, he should go to the doctor and have his sperm checked out. If he has more than 20 million sperm per milliliter of semen, then I would say he's pretty freaking fertile. But you know what they say... it's quality not quantity. Only about 200 will reach your fallopian, then it's a battle and the baddest one wins (I've always wanted to see that up close... it's gotta be fun to see).

He also needs to have the doctor check the shape of his sperm. A normal sperm has an oval head and a long tail that it uses to beat the rest to the egg. Sperm with large, small, tapered or crooked heads or kinky, curled or double tails are less likely to fertilize an egg.

Then, of course... he needs to find out if his sperm are even moving. Motility is important, or else the sperm will never reach the egg.

In your story you mentioned that your husband plays semi-pro football so I'm sure he's into fitness, etc etc. But, I'm gonna throw these out there just in case. If he starts doing these things now it will definately help the chances of you two when you do decide to try.

1) Reduce stress

2) Take a multi vitamin

3) Exercise regularly

4) Don't become overweight

5) Eat healthy

6) Stay away from Toxins

7) Don't smoke (Duh!)

Slow down on the alcohol... unless you wanna get tipsy the night yall decide to "do the dirty"... oops I mean "deed".

9) If he's taking any medication for any illness he may have, make sure he runs it by his Doctor.

10) No illegal drugs

11) Make sure he doesn't get too hot in his genital area. To maximize the quality and quantity of his sperm, avoid hot tubs and baths. Spending more than 20 minutes in water 102 F (40 C) or above. It has been linked to lowering the sperm count.

So um... you two stay away from the hot tub. Unless of course (along with the alcohol) you two wanna do it in the hot tub when you decided to do the dirty.

(I know... I said dirty... I like dirty more than deed. Deed makes it sound like a chore.) lol

Good Luck!

You are too funny, We got the go ahead from my lady parts Dr and DH is 100% ready to ahve kids, we are going to try to go Au naturel for a while- other then the prenatals and cutting back on the cocktails and try that out for a bout a year and then if necessary go from there. Dh is VERY fit and Healthy and still plays football and eats well, so we will see what happens and after ayear if we need to go in for testing and what not, we will cross that bridge then.

I have a friend who is a lil Nuerotic about getting KU, she has a 3 yeard old and hase been trying for like 6 months, sex is a chore and she only wants it when she is ovulating and her husband's feelings are hurt and she stopped eating, so it may not even be their reproductive parts arent working, it is more than likely because she literally does NOT eat.... so that is a whole big mess, DH is like- "I want this just as much as you and it will happen, just PLEASE promise me you will not be like ******* and become crazy" LOL

Neither DH or I use any "substances" he doesnt even use anything like creatine or anything when he power lifts.

Neither one of us are being treated for anything, the only RX is BC and my inhaler for asthma.

No worries we don't have a hot tub and the thought of using a public one Skeeves me out, LOL oh and I didnt actually have 6 margaritas, I had two with lunch :0) it was just so hot out and PERFECT yum

SOOOOOO Thank you Dr C-19 for the great tips!!!! Like I said, take care and keep in touch!!!!!
