What made you choose your child's name?

Is it a family name? a name memorializing someone? a cool name you heard? a name you had to steal before a sibling took it? LOL or did you wait and look down and think "Wow s/he looks like a _______"?????

I'm glad you're bored at work too

Before I ever thought I would ever be a mom, the name Lawrence Andreas came to me while DB and I were dating. Lawrence b/c DB wants all his kids to have names that start with L, and I vetoed having a Jr. as well as the "hood" names he had like Latrell and Ladanian. I liked Langston or Landon, but he said those names sounded like he would be destined to get beat up a lot so Lawrence is the only one we could agree on (just don't EVER call him Larry!). Andreas is DB's little brother's middle name and I just love it. Such a beautiful name, and it sounds great with Lawrence. Now we have Lawrence Andreas, or mka (mommy known as) Lo or Dre for short. The name Lawrence is a little heavy for a child, but sounds very nice with Dr. or The honorary judge in front of it.

LMAO, Hey! why you gotta blow up my spot?!?!?!? LOL

I had always thought Dre was was his first name (and BTW, Dr sounds pretty good in front og it too LOL)

I really like the name and I really like his Nicknames,
I was kidding when I texted DH the name Magnus a few minutes ago and he was like "as in the hamburger?" and I had to think and be like "NO.......thats ANGUS"

for the first names we just picked a few names we had heard and my 2 where cameran and cody and as soon as we saw the ultra sound the showed he was a boy we knew he was a cody and then we did nicolas for his middle name sense it was my husbands middle name. really it just was out of simpleness for that part i think but it fit really well together too. we are going to probly do something like that for #2 also.
    wwilson89 replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
The first thing that came to mind was Magnum, lol, which could get dangerous when he's *cough cough* of age. Loads of lady callers.

Several people don't realize Dre isn't his first name, it's cool. I call him Lawrence when he's into something and I want his attention and Dre when it's cuddle time. I was at a friend's grad party with her family and they were like, "Sooo is his name Dre or Lawrence?"

Really with the Dr. Dre jokes? "It's like this and like that and like this and ah...."
    BabyLovesPrada replied to wwilson89's response:
LOL that was my comeback to DH about the name Magnus, I was like "what? you said you wanted a STRONG name, we can call him Magnun for a nickname, LOL

Hey me and DR. DRE go waaaaay back LOL

    Fun question!!!

DD is named Juliana because it is my maternal grandmother's middle name in honor of her father Julius (who died when Austria was invaded in WWII). She and I have been super-close my whole life plus I think the name is beautiful. AND DH and I could agree on it.

I REALLY wanted her middle name to be Emsley because it means "Gift from God" after our infertility struggles but DH absolutely hated it so I agreed to compromise since her first name was after my side of the family we made her middle name Marie because DH's mother's middle name is Marie.

If we have a son his name will most likely be Benjamin Scott because we love the name Benjamin and Scott is family name on DH's side.
    BabyLovesPrada replied to Jen_FLMom's response:
I love the name Juliana, that is so pretty
    Jen_FLMom replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
Thank you very much! I was worried right before she was born that she wouldn't "look" like a Juliana but she does.
    BabyLovesPrada replied to Jen_FLMom's response:
LOL, that is my biggest fear too!!!!
    BabyLovesPrada replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
It just sounds very graceful and sophisticated.

Amaya La'shea- Her dad's name is Anthony Lamar and his lastname starts with a I wanted to keep the initals the same...both our first child and she couldnt be a junior. Amaya was this chicks name on that show " Real World" On Mtv. It was pretty, unique ,had a "y" which is exotic to me and started with and "A"....Shea is my lil sis middle name ,I stuck the "La in front of it....and that was that...

Shyan La'nae- I had no name what so ever for her and her father (Anthony)picked the name Cheyanne....I liked the name but hated the it was common in our crowd of friends....we agreed her name would be "Cheyanne" but id get to spell it weird ...I came up with this cause...It also held a "y" and was 5 her big sister....her grandmother on his side name is Elnora....I mixed that with my moms middle name which was "Lynn" and came out somehow this while throwing around alot of different things...again added the "La" to keep the initals playing a role..

Camrin Anthony...- We werent together when he was born, I didnt want a junior ,so I opted to give him his middle name instead...was originally going to spell it keep the "y's" going but I heard or read of a lil girl who's name was Camryn and that turned me off of the "y" reminded me of a girly I put "i" to look unique as possible...of course now I wish I stuck with the "y" but I digress!

and that is that more for me...unless I get blessed somehow....(tubes tied-kinda regret)
    BabyLovesPrada replied to ImMe26's response:
Wow, those are great names and I like how so much time and thought went into them!

DIDnt you see the episode the other night on "i didnt know I was preg? Tubes tied and got KU

I LOVED the name Amaya too I am a "real world" whore, well not so much the past couple seasons, but I still watch the Gauntlets and stuff
    stephs_3_kidz replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
DS1..I thought long and hard. His middle name is my dad's middle name. DD1, um.., wellllll..DS1 picked her name out of a cup. (I won, BTW, DH's choice--Tiffany--didn't quite make the pick).

Honestly, with DD2 and DS2, I just picked some names that I liked and DH liked and he let me choose after we'd narrowed it down.

Oh boy lol my story is a little oldest Tavion 10, was named by my boyfriend at the time. He had a friend named Octavion and just liked Tavion but his middle name is another story lol His full name is Tavion Crendell Christopher (minus the last name of course) Christopher is the name of my ex and Crendell I really have no idea why he picked that lol....My daughter is Shakayla Lanae and I made that up, I liked Kayla and Makayla but I wanted something different and Lanae is just a spin on Renee. Brandon Everett my 4 year old is because we both liked Brandon and Everett is DH's middle name, the youngest (for now lol) is Kobie Isaac. Kobie because of Kobe Bryant (DH was playing basketball on the xbox and honestly we could not think of another boy name we liked) and we decided to spell it different and Isaac cuz I liked that name for a boy. So there's my long story
