    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Yours in health,

    administrative duties?
    IslandL posted:
I'm curious Lyndee, what are the duties involved in being the administrator of a member created exchange? As an administrator, are you notified why a particular thread was deleted? There was a thread yesterday that was removed even though it did not violate terms of use - no names were mentioned, even that of another site. So what is the justfication of removing the discussion?

Also, what are the mechanics of starting a private exchange? Do people have to "apply" to be members and wait for administrator approval? How would such an exchange attract new members?
    BabyLovesPrada responded:
LMAO um there are no duties and I am not notified of ANYTHING

No idea why that was deleted, and honestly could care less! I am sure this will deleted too!

Starting a private exchange is something I am looking into, it is an option when you first create the exchange, but after that? I have to find out, from what I understand you have to be invited to join, but i am not sure.
    IslandL replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
That's what I'm wondering, how do you invite people to join? Do you like, scour other exchanges and publicly invite some to join your exchange while deliberately excluding others? There is no private message feature on Webmd alas.

I'm thinking a private exchange would cut down on the trolls. And the cowardly spy and report losers.
    An_190797 replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
You mean you don't have to do anything to set up an exchange or manage it? That sounds too simple. My personal page on FB takes more effort than that. Is a private exchange that much different than a private FB page? I put my page private because there was too much BS from peeps. Some peeps just don't know how to behave. KWIM!
    BabyLovesPrada replied to An_190797's response:
I Toatlly know what you mean, no it took me like 5 minutes to set up both my exhanges, what took the longest was picking out the image at the top of the page!
    BabyLovesPrada replied to IslandL's response:
I totally believe that it would, I think people see the name of the request and may or may not be able to view content, but cannot post unless they request to join and are accepted, but even then if you accept someone, who says they arent there to cause problems, can you delete them? not too sure I want to play god here
    BabyLovesPrada replied to An_190797's response:
Oh and I don't have FB, I had myspace tho DH is the one who built it, I am not computer savy and this was EASY to set up
    An_190798 replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
I wonder why webmd keeps changing things if it's that easy. I spose some sites are easier than others. Depending on the traffic spose.
    IslandL replied to BabyLovesPrada's response:
"not too sure I want to play god here "

Hmmm, I wondering if on a private exchange you could set and enforce a supplemental set of terms of use. No posting anon for example. Warnings given to posters who attack or otherwise violate the "by-laws" and if they continue, blocked from posting on the exchange.

What I like about this idea is why should members have to "ignore" those out to cause trouble waiting for a mod to remove their posts? Simpler just to block said individuals from posting in the first place. You get a chance to contribute, you only want to contribute crap for your own amusement, you're out. Simple as that. Yeah, I could play god in that way.

butting in a little, but on the topic of your other exchange. OMG! there is so much drama over there and I can't believe the backlash that you got for inviting people to talk over here. WTH. I am not here to judge anyone and I "hate" people that do. Sure we all have our opinions and we come from different backgrounds, etc. but that is just it, its an opinion and people shouldn't attack someone for their opinion. Just saying.

You're not butting in Ruth, your opinions are most welcome.

I spose it's how they put it across. Like owning it and not pushing it abrassive. Civil & not talkin smack. Sorry for jumpin in with that.
    mrslee97658 replied to An_190799's response:
but I did notice that some of them DO talk smack that's what I was referring to. I have nothing against people posting anon heck I have done it but when you do it just to attack people its really unfair to the other person.
