I am 60 and have suffered from Panic Attacks since 1st grade....a horrible way to live....I never had an attack while working....but home alone they come in swarms and I am unable to drive alone....it is an inconvenience for people around me....I feel like I have to manipulate the situations I am in....I have been on Xanax for years

So, you've been checked out medically and a BZ is what works for you. I'm sorry that you didn't get some help with this earlier in your life, but that doesn't mean you can't feel better now.

Any cognitive therapy over the years? What about self-help techniques? Take a look at our Tips column and begin doing the relaxation breathing techniques. We have a video tutorial that will teach you to do this in 2 minutes and you can do it whenever you are beginning to feel anxious, especially when you have to drive or are home alone. Give it a try.
