Anxiety/Panic Attacks Or Something More?

Hello everyone! I've been having numerous health concerns since February of this year. I've had several CT scans including 2 head & neck scans & bloodwork done over 6 times. I also had an MRI of the spine. None of these have shown anything of real concern.

I was hospitalized back in April with acute renal failure. That seems to be back under control now. I think nearly all of my current health concerns are candida related. I'm currently on a candida protocol program to try & get it under control.

Ever since I was hospitalized I've had a constant ache/pain in the back of my head & neck. I was told by all doctors that it's related to anxiety/panic attacks. I have been diagnosed with anxiety but this constant pain/ache seems to be something more in my opinion.

It's a pain/ache that feels like the smallest rubber band has been stretched around my head. The ache/pain never goes away. My head feels like a big bowling ball. I used to get electric shock/tingling/numbness sensations at night but those have subsided recently. They only happen at night anyhow when laying down.

Does this sound like anything related to anxiety/panic attacks? I was told by a naturopathic doctor on the net that all of my symptoms of sickness since February are directly related to a candida overgrowth in my body.

Heck, I've been on 3-4 courses of Diflucan for yeast anyhow but there's been no improvement which is typical for yeast overgrowth problems. I do have other topics on here dating back to February. Information about those topics can be gained from my profile. Thanks!

I am not an M.D. and I can't make any statements regarding your current bout with candida. Since you have been checked out thoroughly with many medical tests and are receiving treatment, I would assume that there may be a level of anxiety associated with all of this, but it may also be associated with the medical problem which may be causing neurologic problems. Remember, I said I'm not an M.D., but anything that is related to the kidney has a direct relationship on the nervous system because it is the kidney that removes certain electrolytes which can cause some changes in the nervous system. Your urologist would be the best person to ask about this.

Anyone who has a feeling of a band around their head is usually seen as suffering from stress-related pain and that might be what is happening to you. It is usually referred to as a tension headache.

If your doctors agree, I would think that some self-help techniques might be useful to help with the stress that you are under currently. We do have some recommendations for self-help in our Tips column. I would suggest that you 1st watch the relaxation breathing video tutorial and begin using that technique on a daily basis, several times a day. I believe it may help to relieve the tension and stress that you are experiencing and which is exhibiting itself in some of your painful symptoms.

I hope this has been helpful to you and that you feel much better very soon.

Dr. Farrell
