Do not, repeat do not try this anti-depressent. I was on it for one week at .35 mg and 2 weeks at 75mg. I had AWFUL side effects. My
doctor told me I could just go off it since I hadn't been on it that long. It has been horrible; headaches, hot/cold, nausea the list goes on. I've been on Prozac for about two weeks now. Praying for good results.

Patricia Farrell, PhD responded:
Some medications, unfortunately, do cause very difficult side effects for people and there really is no way to know which ones will be useful and which would not be tolerable. It's a trial-and-error affect.

I hope that you are working with someone who will also refer you for some cognitive therapy because medication is often not the complete treatment plan that is needed by most people. You may be able to benefit from learning new ways to approach things and to help yourself. Medication may be useful, but it is often used in conjunction with cognitive therapy and this has been shown in a great deal of research to be the most effective approach.

I hope that you are feeling much better and that things do improve for you.

Dr. Farrell
