Need Help with my symptoms
darkfox80 posted:
I Lost my father back in July and ever since then i havent gotten over it. I was with him in the hospital and nursing facilities almost every day for 5 months. Watched him have a borderline massive stroke and all he went through and was there on the last day when he passed away holding his hand. I have constant nightmares, cant sleep, im lucky if i sleep 3-4 hours a night. Im getting more and more edgy and loosing my temper more. I feel like i'm loosing it. I literally broke down about 5 times in anger and went crazy. I cry alot at times too. I cant get the memories out of my head. It's so crystal clear like if it was all just yesterday. Im too stubborn to see a doctor , but i need to see someone because its not getting better. I dont know what i have but i need help

One thing that is probably making your symptoms worse is the lack of sleep which, I know, is part of the problem right now.

It would be a good idea to work with a specialist in grief counseling and, perhaps, a group. So, please don't be stubborn and do try to get a referral to a therapist who specializes in grief issues, probably someone with a cognitive orientation. It's really the best thing to do.

I know how difficult this must be because memories like this are so strong that they linger, but time does allow us to gradually come to feel a bit better. It does take time and everyone does this in their own time; there's no rigid timetable for it.

I do hope that things do improve. Your father was very fortunate to have had your love and support in his final days and you did a very fine thing for him. I know he must have known and loved you for it.
