Does anybody with the combined diagnoses Bi-polar and PTSD also have massive memory loss?

DamagedDoll posted:
I'm 23 and I have noticed ever since I was about 14 I have massive gaps in my memory. I don't remember a lot of what has happened to me in my life. I have a diagnosis of PTSD and Bi-polar. Is this the PTSD blacking out my memory or should I be concerned since I also get migraines?

Patricia Farrell, PhD responded:
I'm not sure what might be causing your memory gaps, but since you have a diagnosis of PTSD and bipolar, I'm assuming you have someone who is providing mental health care to you. This individual should be helping you to understand what might be causing this and what needs to be done.

Please be sure to discuss both your memory gaps and your migraines with your healthcare provider. I am not an MD and I'm really not qualified to provide any guidance in this area. You may need a workup by a specialist but that is for you and your healthcare provider to discuss.

I hope things do improve for you very soon and that you do get the help you deserve.
