    Easing the withdrawal Hell of Effexor XR

    I was on Paxil for about 2 years and then on Effexor XR for about 2 years, due to my supposedly menopause caused depression. On my own research and decision, I stopped taking Effexor completely a week ago. I tapered down over 3 weeks from 150 mg. daily to now nothing. I was all ready for the horrible side effects everyone said I was going to get. Well, it hasn't been totally unbearable. I do have sweating episodes, brain zaps, a crying episode over looking at a puzzle box picture of a mare and foal, can't sleep at night without leaving the lights on, the TV on, and sit in a chair instead of in bed to feel less paniced, get very irritated at my husband, and feel like I have a bad case of the flu. But I feel great otherwise. Ha, ha! Anyway, I do feel healthier. I eased the side effects by taking 6000 mg. of fish oil a day and eating only natural foods all day. No sugar, no artificial sweetners, absolutely no processed foods. Only chicken, fish, raw vegetables, apples, green tea, and yogurt. I ate this way for a month of tapering down and will continue for the next couple months. I'm also doing apple cider vinegar with the "mother" 3 tb. a day and Goji juice. I feel so healthy it is amazing and here on the 7th day after quitting Effexor for good, I know I will make it. "From Hell and Back!".
