question on fevers
Laura0711 posted:
Hi, I just have a quick question about fevers if you normally run around 96.5 are you running a fever when you have a temp of 98.4 or do you go by what everyone else does and you don't have a fever until you get to 100 degrees.I'm just curios what others think.

Thank you,
abbymay16 responded:
I typically run around 97 so when I hit the 98.6 mark I am running a fever. That 98.6 mark is really just an average and a lot of us are just slightly lower than that. I've always been told by my doc that since I run lower, that YES 98.6 means I have a fever!

I am with Mattie. My normal body temp is around 97.6. I consider anything over 98.6 questionable and if it gets to 99.0 - I have a fever. I have started telling my nurses and doctors what my normal body temp is when they take it. They will usually agree with me that I have a low grade fever above 98.6.

I hope that helps you.

Thanks that is what I thought right now I'm running in the 99 to 100
