Hello - I have had off and on respiratory infections with constant coughing, chills and fever since February. I have had two X-rays, CT Scan, blood tests showing elevated white blood count, allergy tests showing I am allergic to mixed feathers, some molds, and Timothy grass (?). I have 5 rounds of antibiotics with prednisone, and I am still no better. I have had three "attacks" or some sort where I experience nausea, chills, fever, elevated blood pressure and it goes away within a day or so.

I have been to my regular doctor and a respiratory specialist who has put me on Advair and Ventolin. I passed all my asthma tests where I had to blow out but when I have these attacks my doctor said that I still could be expericing asthma attacks and the fever was probably due to my body fighting the "attacker" for that episode. The CT scan showed muscus plugs in my lungs.

I am going crazy coughing and I do have a lot of flem. I do have evidence of post nasal drip. I don't know if I have bronchiectasis but I do have a lot of symptoms including coughing when I lie on my right side. Do you have anything you can say to me that will help me know what to do next. I am going crazy and I feel like my chest if full of congestion sometimes even though x-rays and CT scan say it is clear except for the plugs.

Could there be relief???? Thanks so because I am getting desperate.

Hi,

Sorry it has taken so long for someone to get to you.

I haven't been able to get on in the last few weeks.

I would suggest that you start treating your allergies. At a minimum, twice daily sinus washes, antihistemines, and maybe nasal sprays are needed.

You aslo need to consider the possiblity of acid reflux. Reflux can cause all the symptoms you have. It can also be made worse by laying on your right side. Some research I did said that Chinese medicine recommended sleeping on your left side to reduce acid reflux.

I hope that helps some. Don't give up. There are answers and you don't have ot live with chronic cough. It can be controlled.
