Hey everyone as most of u know I am a severe asthmatic. I ended up in hospital again with a cold and and the humidity was extremely high. They kept me overnight and did blood work this morning now I have a white count, fever and really low potassium, so I can't go home even though on the side not my breathing is much better. We have our 10yearhighschool reunion tomorrow and am so frustrated I keep missing everything or can't go because it might trigger my asthma. I hate this, I hate being sick. I just want to be a normal 27 year old and go out and not worry about attacks and breathing. Sorry just needed to rant. Bre

Hey,
Rant all you want. We all know the truth about what you are experiencing. It is frustrating. The concerns we have to balance to live can make us "chose" not to participate normal life activaties.

Hang in there.
Get better.

Hey starting to feel better, getting up and able to move without planning my activities. Saw my specialist she switched my meds around a bit now I am on symbicort two puffs four times a day which seems to be helping using less ventolin, also increased my theophylline to twice a day because my levels were low. She had sent a referral to a different province for bronchial thermoplasty when i saw her in may so she is following up with the doctor she sent it to as I haven't heard anything yet. Go back and see her again in a month unless it gets worse. Hoping to get back to work this week. Thanks for the support. Bre

I hope you continue to feel better. I understand to some degree fustrations with not being able to do normal life activities due to asthma related issues, so ranting is okay with me. I had to take theophylline for awhile and hated it. I hope you can get off if you hate it like I did.

Hey back in hospital again on my second night here however they are combining at this time. I had done well for 2 weeks oh well. I don't find too many troubles with the theophylline as I am on so many I can't always decide which goes with what. Still waiting to hear from Hamilton for bronchial thermoplasty.

Sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. The last year I was in Houston, they had me on and off prednisone, and had used theophylline as they didn't know how else to decrease the prednisone load. I hated it because the combination of on and off prednisone (they didn't plan it like that, they tried to wean me off, but then asthma got bad again and had to put me back on) in combination with a drug that feels like I just drank 9 cups of coffee made me unhappy, though I was glad I could breath somewhat.

No one told me to be careful if I get a fever as the theophylline dose has to be adjusted. I got a fever, and then within a few weeks I woke in the middle of the night having an uncontrolled seizure (I have no seizure disorder). The blood pressure was very high, and I was somewhat shaking uncontrollably for days after stopping it. So, I don't like the drug, but I know it's necessary at times.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the hospital and all the drugs and getting better, then worse again. I hope Hamilton gets back to you on the bronchial thermoplasty. Best of luck and keep all informed.

I have the same problem with prednisone side effects, and same thing-I have to use more than they like for long term health, but it's the only thing that will pull me out in some situations. Your situation may be more severe, though. Anyway, I can understand on some level the love/hate relationship of prednisone, which is why I loved that you tube video with the lady playing the guitar and singing about prednisone.

Sorry to hear you have to take it and sorry for the side effects.

You're in my thoughts and prayers.
