Xolaire Approval

Sleepless posted:

Thursday I was back in the hospital. Friday, I found out that I was approved for Xolaire. Though a little late as for as keeping me out of the hospital, I am thankful that I was approved. Most importantly, with the love and care of my new allergist I have a new lung specialist who is working very hard to help me as well. For the first time in a long time I feel hopeful with my new medical team. They both have expressed that I was a complicated case but they were up to the battle. So, I thank God for placing them in my life. This support group has been a big help as well. No matter how bad we may feel that we have it, there is always someone who has it worst. This sounding board keeps me grounded. I am a little concern about starting the Xolaire but I am hoping for the best.

I agree this support group is very helpful...and that there are those who have it worse than me. It helps me because I don't feel so isolated and that there are those out there who have some understanding of what I'm talking about even if we may disagree.

I went out today to get a sandwhich from a shop. As my asthma has been getting worse again I couldn't speak loud. The person who was taking my order started making jokes about how he couldn't hear me. I coughed a lot to clear my lungs, then said as loud as I could, "I have asthma, and it's getting worse, so you can't hear me well because I can't take a deep breath easily." He made some jokes and went on, none of the jokes were derogatory at me. I'm learning that normally such people will not understand no matter how much I explain, so I just let those situations go. However, they can have the effect of making me feel isolated.

So, it is a real blessing to have this group here as others can understand to a large degree what I'm talking about or how it is to live with it. It makes me feel less isolated.

Congratulations on the Xolair and that your new medical team is supportive. Best of luck to you.
