So I had my weekly appointment today... it's supposed to be for 37 weeks but it's a couple days early. I got my results back for Strep B... positive. Can't I catch a break??? She made it sound like no big deal and said I would just have to take antibiotics during labor and delivery. From what I read it's a terrible infection to have... damn internet! Baby measured on point at 36, appears to be mostly head down still, and had a heartbeat in the 130s... he must've been asleep! My BP was 137/78 which was a little higher... but according to my chart I have had higher. And somehow I managed to gain 2 1/2 pounds since last week... I'm going to blame that on the 2 glasses of water I had prior to the appointment. Then she sent me to the desk to make an appointment in two weeks since I already have mine scheduled for next week... and come to find out they do not have any available appointments for my 39 week check up. How is this possible?????? They can't just skip that week... I would think that all of my appointments are pretty important. So overall the appointment was good but I am left with an annoyed feeling. OH not to mention my doctor today was actually a student... and my bright self asked for her to check my discharge to ensure it was just normal discharge... can I just say that was painful! Discharge was all normal thankfully! What a day!

Sorry about the Strep B coming back positive, but as long as you have the antibiotics during labor you should be just fine! I can't believe your doctor didn't have any appointments, were they able to squeeze you in at least? My office allowed me to make all my appointments well in advance, which has helped! Take Care!

Sounds like a good appt overall Melinda. Sorry you tested positive, but I've heard it really isn't a big deal as long as you are given antibiotics. I'm sure everything will be fine. It's hard to believe they are booked for your 39wk appt...wow. I'm sure they will schedule you in. I never made it to my 39wk appt with DS because he arrived that same week. Hope your day gets better.

Melinda, Happy to hear everything with the baby is ol. Sorry about Strep B. I had that as well. You only need the antibiotics for 2 hours before delivery, so everything should be no problem. The internet always terrifies me also!! I can't believe your dr's office couldn't squeeze you in at 39wks!! Hopefully they will figure something out!

I'm happy to hear that the LO is doing well. Sorry about the Strep B. From what I was reading about it, it's pretty common. Something like 15% of women in the US has it. The PPs are correct, you will just need some antibiotics before delivery. I hope that they are able to get you in for your 39 week appointment. Best wishes!

Thanks ladies... I am not even going to stress over the Strep B anymore... my husband did some research on it and said of course I looked to far into it and with the meds I will be ok. It's just aggravating! I have no clue what they are going to do about my appointment for 39 weeks. The lady at the desk told me when I go in on Aug 6th to try and make an appointment at that time... ummm NO! If I wait for the Friday before what makes her think an appointment will be available. So I am going to call this Friday and see what I can get. They said if there absolutely are no appointments then I will go on a list. I wanted to ask her if she realized I was going to be 39 weeks pregnant... I don't have time for lists!!!! But it is what it is...

So in the meantime I am just going to relax as much as possible. I found out this morning my uncle passed away so I have some family calls to make and then I am just going to try and clear my mind.

I dont want to say dont worry but I did with Cade an it was not worth the stress.. I have again to have the IV with Lew.... My understanding from my Dr with Cade an Lew is that it is common an as long as you have the Iv during Labor the chances are slim of anything happening.. But I do understand your fear been there done that...
Sorry that your appointment was annoying -- I feel ya.. I think we are all feelin a little annoyed these days
