Convertible Car Seat Question

Hi Ladies -

Quick question about car seats. I installed the infant car seat in my car last night. I had planned to put it behind the passenger, but then my DH doesn't fit in the car (b/c the seat has to be moved up - he is 6'5"). So we moved it to behind me, which is fine. Then we realized that DH will be driving home from the hospital and won't be able to move the driver's seat back.

I know the hospital has to see that you have a car seat. We have a convertible car seat for DH's truck which goes from 5lbs to 105lbs. It would be much easier to bring the baby home in that vehicle so we aren't constantly moving car seats, etc. Are you allowed to bring the baby home in a convertible car seat? Will someone from the hospital walk out to your car to verify you actually have a car seat?

Hey Emily....(APO PAIF)

That will be fine. A nurse will actually walk you to your car and verify that the car seat is installed correctly. All hossy's do this. If it makes you feel better though, just call your hossy and ask. HTH!!!

Emily,

Tough call, but yes they usually go out to the car with you and check things out. I believe the convertible one is just fine as long as it is rear facing. I know most police stations will check it out as well to make sure it is properly installed for added reassurance if you would like.

I have never had a nurse check the car seat. As long as it is installed correctly and it is ok for the weight limit you should be fine. They are nurses not police.
