Hi Ladies!
Well I know this is late, but it has been a week! Here goes!
Abby Christine was born 8/8/10 @ 12:44 AM. She was 7lbs, 6oz, and 20 in. She has blue eyes and dark brown hair. She looks exactly like her sister, except her sister is blonde.
I went in on Saturday for a BPP/NSt. We both passed with flying colors, so DH and I decided to go to lunch and a movie. Well 15 mintutes after we left the hospital, I sneezed and a gush of water came out of me. Needless to say, the water broke and I headed back to labor and delivery. I got back to the hospital at noon. They started pitocin at 2:00, but nothing was happening. I was not reacting to the mediicine, and that was so frustrating. Finally at about 5:30 things started to happen. I got my epidural at 6:30, but they had trouble and had to poke me 3 seperate times so I was crying by the time all was said and done. I ended up with a monster bruise on my back, but it had to happen.....I was falling asleep in and out, but was not making progress. THe doctor cam in at 7:30 and said if I did not make progress in 3 more hours I would have to get a C-section. I was freaked! They checked me at 8:30 and I was a 7-8, and then at 11:30 I was fully dialated. The problem was the baby was not coming down. At first we thought we would give it more time, but the doctor said it would go faster if I pushed. So I had the hardest pushing labor you can imagine. I only pushed for an hour, but my DD was 40 mintues and everyone says #2 is easier, wrong! She ended up getting stuck, but I worked through it and I felt it all cause my epidural wore off on my left side at 9:00. It was a hard labor (not that any is that easy, but more difficult thean #1), but it was all worth it in the end. She came out screaming, got a 9/9 apgar, and was just beautiful. I could not stop crying after all we had been through this pregnancy.
The one issue Abby had was a heart murmur. She had an Echo of the heart that morning, and was consulted with a pediatric cardiologist at Children's hospital. Lucikly, it was a normal murmur, and we had a follow up on WEdnesday and found out it had already closed. Thanks GOD!!!!
I ended up going home after 1 night due to comfort and concern for my DD at home. I should have stayed 1 more night, but it just did not seem to make sense at the time.
Just wanted to finally get this out to you all since you were a big part of my pregnancy. I truly am grateful for all of your wishes, advice, and kindness you have shown. Looking forward to hearing more stories and following you all into parenthood!
Take care! Lots of HUGs and best wishes to you all! I will keep posting as I can, but still trying to heal up and get adjusted to a family of 4.
