I am intimately involved with the care of my 4 year old grandson; he was diagnosed @ 2.5. Although since birth until age of 3 he was an excellant sleeper, since age of 3 he has had so much difficulty. Firstly, he had trouble falling asleep but melatonin 3mg has helped with that. We also use clonidine .5 mg if unable to fall asleep and repeat @ 1am until 3am if he wakes and is unable to fall back asleep. Mostly, we only have to use the melatonin until the last 2 months. He now wakes up multiple times screaming or shaking; almost like night terrors. We play music (classical) to help him sleep (all night), have a routine of bath, read books, prayers, dark room and the music. Some members of his family allow him to sleep with him which seem to make matters worse; we are trying to institute complete consistentency but the problem is sleeping with someone seems to help his sleep. Would appreciate any suggestions......
