chronic pain from lumbar surgery

I had decomperssion and fusion in october 2010. the surgery involved decompression and laminectomy from L2 To S1. 6 months on and the pain is still intense. Mt pain management doctor is doing a ketamine infusion in a couple of weeks as I have a lot of allergic reactions to conventional paain meds. I am doing this even though some side effects may be very unpleasant as I don't want to be a legal drug addict for the rest of my life, I live in Australia, has any of your over seas doctors ever mentioned this option to any one for pain management???
