Hip groin pain - could lump in thigh be causing pressure on nerves

tmarielbs posted:
I have had a lump on the front of my upper thigh that has grown from pea size to peach pit size. Never bothered me. Lately, my hip and my groin have both been bothering me and sometimes at night I cannot sleep because of pain in the front of my leg. Could the growth of the lump be pressing on a nerve that goes up into my hip or . . . could it all just be coincidental from an old low back injury pressing on the sciatic nerve and the lump is just there? I did fall and break my collar bone about 8 weeks ago and have to be careful from a bulging disc at L4-5. Anyone know of any possible connection with all this pain? I am eating tons of ibuprofen and taking tylenol pm but still can't sleep because of the discomfort. Hurts to walk, bend over or sit for long periods.

You need to see your primary doctor asap. H/she can determine exactly what the lump is and develop the best treatment plan for you.

hi - as Dave said you really need to get to your primary doc as soon as possible -

also - you indicated you've been eating a lot of ibuprofen and Tylenol PM - you must be VERY CAREFUL - there is a limit of 3500 to 4000mg total daily for ibuprofen/Tylenol mixture or it will start to affect your liver. so you really need to get to your doctor and get examined for the right treatments.

take care and let us know how u are doing - Joy~~

The disc in your lumbar back could be giving you the pain you describe but you really can not know what is going on until your doctor examines you and gives the proper tests.

As one write told you - over the counter meds are not to be taken lightly. People tend to take too many OTC meds because they think they are safe or they would not be on the market without a prescription.

Your doctor can give you meds that are better for your body than what you are taking because he will prescribe them and not give you more than your body can handle. Trust your doctor.

Hmm, maybe that's why I have so many kidney stones. I will find a doc in my new area and see what he says. I will def stop the Ibuprofen til I can see him. Will keep u posted. Thanks so much, Joy.

Hey Man, I had something similar. Not the lump, but the pain in the pelvic area. Stopped the Tylenol pm and the symptoms went away. I had gone to the Dr and she said prostititus. filled me up with antibiotics. I questioned the diagnosis. Went to specialist for 2nd opinion. Same diagnosis. Looked it up and prostititus is caused by STDS, but symptoms didn't fit, besides I haven't even had sex with my wife in 10 years and never anyone else in over 20, and I'm 66 years old. someone told me tylenol pm could cause prostate problems. looked it up on the internet. Shasham! - Tylenol PM. Benedryl is the real culpret. It does something to the muscles in the pelvic area that contract and hurt the prostate. felt like crap at night and couldn'tsleep. very painful in the groin and legs. Don't believe Drs if they seems full of it, because they usually are. I'm changing drs.

hi - just thought I would add to the list - Nyquil will also do prostate problems - mainly in men - my husband and his father would complain of that with just one small dose - so neither of them use it -

not sure if this is just in men, as I have never had problems but then again I usually will use one dose of Nyquil when I'm sick and it knocks my colds out -

so be careful with that too -
