Dr. Minchew please help
marieh9 posted: I will give you some history:
Pain upper left buttock near SI joint.
MRI lumbar and bone scan negative (I year ago main injury)
Doc's Dx, GP musculoskeltal, orthosurgeon, dynamic not structural
pain doc did consult (no physical) Neurologist, GP and integrative medicine doctor says myofascial pain syndrome.
After main injury I got better but reinjured badly by PT. Went on pain meds and sat for 1 1/2 months. Second PT also injured me by pushing me too fast and now I can't cross my left leg same as right and can't bend to wash my feet. Pain varies, some days low some moderately high. sometimes tight at back of thigh, calf and heel bottom and back hurts but gets better with rest.
I keep pulling the area about every two weeks or so, in same area and recover. I walk an hour a day slowly and doing some stretches. Still sitting most of the day. I am doing some small things around the house and can drive but that hurts too.
Questions:
1. 4 doctors think I have myofascial pain syndrome two PT's think I have SI joint. I responded well to Flexeril and NSAIDS so I'm thinking the doctors are right and the PT's are wrong. What do you think?
2. I had this once before when dog pulled me forward. It took 6 months of PT and I recovered but now I am weaker. I keep getting small reinjuries and having trouble getting past that into strenthening
Any suggestions on how to prevent injuries and how to get stronger without injury? I know I have a new doctor but I would like to hear what you have to say about this. 3. What do you think about trigger point injections and myofascial massage?
