    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Kyphoplasty Questions for Spine Specialists
    KristinHN posted:
I am doing a report about Kyphoplasty and am searching for experts who can answer a few questions or just give me some general comments on the subject.

I have learned quite a bit about the indications and procedure but now need to learn about the balloon systems themselves.

Here are my questions. I would really appreciate any information you can provide. I would be happy to do this by email or phone as well.

Who needs kyphoplasty/how big is the need?
How many surgeries do you or your clinic perform in a given month or year?
Which type (brand) of kyphoplasty balloon do you use?
What qualities do you look for in a kyphoplasty balloon?
    What problems you experienced?
How did you choose the type of balloon you use?
How are they supplied to you? Local rep? Large distributor? Direct sales or online ordering?
How are the balloons packaged and what are the key components?
What is the cost per balloon system?
What roughly is the CMS reimbursement rate?
What other practical issues surround kyphoplasty?

    Thanks again!!

Dr Levin is our kyphoplasty expert but I wopuld suggest you narrow down your questions. It would take "forever to answer all this. Most of these questions are addressed at other websites as well including
    Dr Ben Yishay

    Thanks Dr. Yishay,

    Thanks for your reply.

I guess what I am trying to learn now is which brand of kyphoplasty balloon Dr. Levin uses and why. What makes it good? And how much is cost a factor?

    Thanks again!

Kristin - you may want to start a new discussion and put your heading directly to Dr. Levin - this way he will see it and respond - take care - good luck - Joy
