Bent Over and Couldn't Stand Back Up

I strained my lower back muscles shoveling sand about a month ago. Took Naproxen and was healing. I leaned over last night to help my toddler "jump".

Felt sharp burst of pain - actually dropped my toddler. Couldn't pick him up to comfort him Dad had to pick him up. I couldn't stand up for about 30 secs. Took Naproxen and opiate for the pain.

Today, pain in lumbar region where spine meets hips - radiating down left hip. Chronic pain some relief with Naproxen. Should I go see my doc to get re-evaluated?

Hello.

Yes, you should see your doctor for re-evaluation. Sound to me like the sooner the better.

hi and welcome to the support group -

As Dave has said, yes you should go back to your doctor and the sooner the better.

I would like to add you should suggest to your physician having an x-ray done to start with. Depending on what shows up I would suggest you have an MRI or CT Scan done as these types of tests should show any damages you may have encountered. and depending on what shows up would depend on if you need to see a spine specialist for further evaluation.

please keep us posted what you find out - take care and NO LIFTING or EXERCISING til you see your doctor and get a diagnosis. Joy
