hi lauralizzie01
the 3 bulging discs that you have are named and since it's the 3 from tailbone up they are: L5, L4 and L3 - bone spurs do hurt and what your surgeon means that it would be the same in 2-3 years is if they go in and remove bone spurs they can and usually do grow back. hopefully the injections will help.
when you say they took you off norco and put you on codeine what type? there are several diffeent types of pain meds that have codeine in them.
the norco is hydrocodone and tylenol and percocet is oxycodone and tylenol and the codeine can be by itself or mixed with tylenol - this way you know what's what as far as the pain meds.
Now for your spine problems - what type of physician did you see? there are 2 spine specialist that are the only ones that can fully read and diagnose spine problems - Orthopedic Spine Specialist or Neurosurgeon Spine Specialist. It would be beneficial for you to get another opinion - this way you know what you are up against.
Seeing a good pain management clinic is also beneficial - a PHYSIATRIST Pain Management Clinic will go deeper into pain management control by going to the underlying problem. here's link describing what they are and what they do:

Hope tis helps - please keep us posted - take care - Joy
