I see that you went to the ER for the increase pain. Did you contact the doctor who did the procedure and let them know what happened?

I've never heard of this happening. When I had mine done I just had band aids on the area and was told not to shower for 2 days and to remove the band aid after 2 days.

I think I would contact the doctor that did the procedure and find out what needs to be done.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did call my Dr. he never returned my call that day, secretary said he was in surgery. I saw him the next day and go a lot of, I don't know, and this never happened before. My skin around the puncture was white, which I now know means it is dead. It was somehow burned in the procedure. Kind of like burned all the way along the needle path. The Dr. also disputed that I had an infection but the pain and redness show that it was infected. I understand the Doctor is in contact with the company who makes the tool to find out if this had ever happened before.
Unfortunately with all of the new pain I cannot tell if the procedure even worked, I am now one week out of work and still cannot put any pressure on or near the site. I wish it was as easy as yours.

WOW!! I think I would start to wonder bout this doctor - at least he is checking on the equipment to see if that's what caused it.

So sorry you are having to go thru this - and the pains must be horrible.

Think I would get another opinion from either a PHYSIATRIST Pain Management

they go deeper into pain management control utilizing numerous types of treatment programs depending on patient needs. They also have a set of spine specialist and can refer you to a good one.

I really think you do need to get another opinion of the procedure and what is going on.

He is a physiatrist. 1 week post surgery and still cannot put pressure on area. Still a gaping hole. Saw GP and he said infection seems to be getting under control and healing is starting. Waiting for my doctor to call and check in with me today as I cannot reach him on weekends.

OK, not the best way to do it but I tried to put the picture of my wounds as my cover, if it goes through you will see what it looked like as soon as I got home from my procedure. Still nno answers but will try another Dr. I have seen tomorrow for a second opinion about what happened.

hi there - WOW~~ damn that looks bad - I only had 2 small 'holes' in my back where they did the procedure - actually one was the injection to numb the area and then the larger hole for the procedure but it didn't look anything like that - they had put just a regular band-aide on it.

let us know what the other doc says - that just looks so painful~~

I would say your wound looks bad! I realize it has been 3 days since you posted, so what have you found out? I would run, not walk, to someone I trust to check you out. I have never seen nor heard of anything like this. Please let us know what is going on.

Thank you everyone for your input. I did go to another doctor who said he believes that either the needle used was not properly coated and the heat escaped or the doctor did not wait for the needle to cool down and pulled it out while it was still hot. Either way I was basically burned from the inside out. I obviously cannot tell if the procedure worked because the current pain is horrible. I am still numb and have burning and stabbing pain when any pressure is placed on that buttock. It has been horrible, I didn't anticipate any time off and I just received a note that I will be out for another week. I will need to see a plastic surgeon to help the wound close and will most likely be scarred. The doctor said it is normal to have a small burn at the area, has anyone else had any kind of burn associated with this procedure? I am very sorry that I had it done but it seemed like a simple procedure and I really had tried everything else over the last 5 or 6 years.

WOW!! this is the first time I've ever heard of something going wrong with this procedure - I've had it done 2 times and though it did not work didn't have any problems.

i'm so sorry this happened to you. actually it is a simple procedure but sounds like the doctor may have made a couple of mistakes. I think I would be sure to ask if this doctor will pay for your plastic surgeon's procedures and/or seek legal advise.

I hope and pray that you can find good treatments and can get the pain under control. please keep us posted how your doing - take care - Joy

Thank you all again for your concern and kind words. I was wondering how long after this procedure you experienced pain. My doctor has reiterated that I would have pain for 1 or 2 weeks after the procedure. I don't remember him expressing this when we discussed the procedure. Just curious, for how long after the procedure did you have pain and discomfort? Saw plastic surgeon today and he will clean it up and get me stitched up next week. Not looking forward to being in another OR situation but I want to do whatever is necessary to get it cleaned up as directed.

unfortunately, the procedure did not work for me. when I had the first one done I was told to go back to work etc., and keep a log of what I was doing and what my pain levels were - where they spiked and what I was doing at time, etc.,

At the end of this first day, I faxed notice to the pain doc and let him know that my pain levels were the same - they did increase if I did stuff like house work, laundry, grocery shopping but I did not have any episodes of pain relief. I was told the next day that he wanted to wait 2 weeks and if no change then he wanted to repeat the process.

2 weeks later and still same pains so the process was repeated. the same results - no pain relief.

You can click on my name or picture and read my story. my current PHYSIATRIST Pain doc asked me about a year ago why they waited so long to do my back operation. I told him I really didn't have an answer. He showed me report of my medical records where my first MRI showed that my disc not only ruptured but it had splintered where part of the disc was pressing on the left side S1 nerve root and the other part on the right S1 nerve root. My pain doc stated that this should have been operated on as an emergency and that no treatments would have helped!!

I didn't know this and thought I had all the reports/cd's that had been done but guess I had missed this one.

so this is the reason the procedure did not work on my as there was more of an underlying problem.

I agree with Joy that the physician who did this procedure does seem to have been very negligent; requiring a plastic surgeon to clean up what had been botched.

I do not believe in frivolous lawsuits but this action seems to qualify for legal council.

I look forward to reading that you have healed from this procedure as soon as you are able to post. By best wishes for you.

once again, thanks for the support. I went to the doctor yesterday and was concerned because i was feeling numb or not having feeling in certain areas. He gave me a couple tests but did not seem concerned. When I went to the Plastic Surgeon last night he said get ready for the worst part, the numbing needles. I did not feel anything. He was very surprised, I felt nothing as he gave me all of the shots. I fear that I have lost feeling in the area. We don't know what the extent of damage is at this point or if it will return. I asked if I could put ice on my back but he said no because of not having feeling in some areas. What a mess.
