Wife Had Facet Rhizotomy Yesterday
davedsel57 posted:
My wonderful wife had a procedure yesterday morning to burn the nerves on the right side of her lower back called a Facet Rhizotomy. She is feeling much less pain on that side today. The pain management specialist will see her on 1/10/13 and then schedule the procedure for the other side.

It was a bit traumatic for her but she did fairly well and today is reaping the benefits.

She is finally getting wc checks after waiting over a month but not the whole amount she should. That will all be worked out after the first hearing on 1/3/2013. The company she worked for and their insurance company are being a bit difficult but I know they are only protecting their assets and want full proof my wife can not work. She has plenty of evidence in the form of test results and doctors' reports so the hearing should go in her favor.

Georgia and others were interested in this procedure so I wanted to update everyone.

Good Morning Dave. I'm so glad to hear your wife has some relief from her pain and her wc has started.

I am going to research the FR. This sounds like something I would be interested in trying.

Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and the New Year will be better for everyone.

Hi Dave glad to hear your wife is getting some relief.

They sound similar to the RFA - in which they burn the facet nerves.

I will keep her in my prayers, for her health and the financial battle that is going on.

Have a Blessed Christmas and a Healthier New Year. Deb

Hi, Deb.

My wife is still enjoying less pain where the procedure was done even though we had to run some errands and get some groceries today.

I have recently learned that the term Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) is an umbrella term for this type of procedure. Doctors are able to burn the nerve in various parts of the body in hopes of relieving pain from several disorders such as cancer, MS, and spinal problems. A Facet Rhizotomy specifically burns the nerves along the facet joints of the spine.

Thank you for your prayers and Christmas wishes. I am continuing to pray for your health issues and hope you have a wonderful holiday.
