I can tell you that I have had a hard time trying to get my Roxycodone filled. I live on the boarder of MO/KS and my pain doc is in KS. I was getting my script filled at an independent pharmacy (we have to pay up front and submit for reimbursement). They have been "Red Flagged" by the Mfg and also the FDA only because they went over their monthly quota of Oxycoone!! So I've had to search to find another pharmacy - but I also found out that the majority of independent pharmacies in KS have been "Red Flagged". I have no problems getting them filled in MO where the pharmacist told me they use different suppliers and do not have any problems.
I wonder if they have taken this into consideration?? The pharmacies in KS have done nothing wrong as the FDA found thru investigations everything was fine - they just had more patients coming each month with legit scripts.
Those of us pain sufferers are not abusing our pain meds, but those that break into pharmacies and steel what would normally be dispensed to us is causing problems.
sure there are some pain sufferers who do take more than they should and then suffer from that.
just wanted to give my $.02 worth!!

No I don't know anyone abusing medicine. It is just scary

I've got a friend on another board that suffers from extreme pain issues. She lives in AZ and has been having problems filling some of her scripts for a while. Her docs have even had to change her meds a few times so she can get what she needs. It's redicious in my opinion that honest hard working Americans should have to suffer in silence just because of some stupid government agency. So far I'm fortunate enough that I haven't required large amounts of pain meds but my father went through this issue when he was on chemo a few years ago. My uncle before that for the same issue. (Brain cancer in my uncle's case, lymphoma in my dad's.) Dad finally had to switch to a mail order pharmacy to get all his meds. I forget what my uncle had to do. I just sorta remember his last days being really horrible and when he did pass he had loss almost a hundred pounds between his diagnoses and passing. It was horrible. If Grandma hadn't had a picture of him at his sister's wedding on the casket you almost couldn't recognize him. Deffinetly agree that we all need to keep an eye on this.

The pain specialist I see now said that I have to take a monthly urine drug test and she said its very expensive. I can't afford that kind of non-sense. My Gyno gave me my last script of Hydro because at the time I had nothing else to help my VLSC. I am completely out of Hydro and am totally afraid to see my family Dr. and ask him. I don't want the damn FDA and DEA to think I'm Dr. shopping, which it totally looks like I am.
30 pills of Hydrocodone lasts me over 6 MONTHS. Its ridiculous that I'm having to suffer because of the government. So tired of this crap. They make it so that legitimate ppl who need opioids can't get any. Its only the drug addicts who have screwed it up for the rest of us. gggrrr.

My aunt orders her scripts through a Canadian pharmacy. I wonder if we could get our pain meds from them. It would suck if we all had to make trips to Mexico to get them. Then we would be breaking a law by transferring meds across the border. I can't make the trip to Mexico anyways because of my pain issues, I can't sit in a car that long.

Hey Cookie - can you find out how she does that? My cousin's mom used to get her meds that way (lives in Topeka, KS) but from what I understand there has to be a Canadian Pharmacy in town in order to do so.

Hello Joy hun, I called my Aunt yesterday to get the information but I couldn't talk to her because she has pneumonia. Poor little thing. But as soon as she is well I will get the info. for you guys. She has been using the company for years and have had no problems.
Its an online pharmacy. From what I understand, you send them your scripts, pay for them and they send the meds to you. I'm not sure if they are sent by the postal service, Fed.X, UPS or Carrier Pigeon (I trust the pigeon more) . I noticed that most of the meds are in groups of like 2 or 3 months worth. They don't take health ins. but I noticed that the price of the meds were pretty good.

I just wonder too what all scripts they will accept. I don't think my pain doc will give out more than a 30 day script as I'm on pretty heavy narcotics -

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. I have had the worst time getting anything that will help my pain from Dr's. I've had chronic back pain for 12 years, with a bulge in my lower back and sciatica pain that runs down my right leg. I found out yesterday I have ostoarthritis in my hips and pelvic, I been in severe pain for 3 weeks now and have had no relief. I've never abused pain medication, I have hardly ever had any to abuse or get addicted too, but it feels like my dr. thinks I'm just there to get narcotic pain medication. I am very offended by this but scared to say anything or even ask for anything stronger than tramadol. They do ua's everytime I see my dr. so he should know that I'm not abusing prescription drugs or street drugs. I'm sick of being in pain and have thought of suicide often, I'm just so tired of being in pain. I'm not happy anymore and don't ee much of a reason to continue but I will cause that's what I have to do. I'm hoping to get help for my chronic pain and the depression and frustation that goes hand in hand with it...... thanks for your postings, and everyone's else's, it makes me feel not so alone! D
