My back is curving inward.

My lower back has been a problem now for a little less then a year. And the pain wasn't so bad till recently, if i stand for to long or recently if i stand for longer then 5 mins. my back begins to feel like it is curving inward.It starts to hurt as well. It literally feels like my back is curving. I'm not a 100% sure but it looks to me that my back does looked more curved but it could also be me overreacting. I can't lay on my stomach at all either the pain get is really bad. It makes me feel like i need to bend over and touch my toes to make it feel better but it doesn't do anything. Any suggestions?

Hi Katesz0211 - welcome to the support group -

first - NEVER SLEEP ON UR STOMACH - this puts a lot of pressure on the spine and will cause backaches. It's best to sleep on your sides (with pillow between your legs) or on your back (pillows under your knees - kinda in a recliner position). this will help keep your spine more straight and will take pressure off. Try taking Ibuprofen for the pains - this will help with inflammation too.

next - you need to see your primary care physician. he/she will examine you, determine if X-rays need to be done and based on those findings if further tests needs to be done (MRI or CT Scan etc). And depending on the findings of those results may have you see a spine specialist.

Only a physician can determine what is causing your pains etc. please keep us posted what you find out~~

Thank you so much I know this is a late response, but those are great ideas that I will try. The pain ended up just going away, but unfortunately it is back so I'm definitely going to try them. Thank you

Dear katesz0211,

Your body will naturally anatomically compensate for any pain or weakness.

What is different in your life? Have you changed your exercise patterns. Core strengthening and stretching may be something your physicain would suggest for you at this time.

To me this sounds very similar to when many of us get a back injury and then end up with an unusual gait. Your body will adapt from the pain of the injury. While you may or may not see physical changes of your lower body, this is not something to dismiss. You will FEEL the physical changes with your body before you SEE them. Pain should never be dismissed, as it is an important symptom of some change with your body.
