Pain pump saga

I finally got the approval from the insurance co. Now we're just trying to schedule it. It's out patient, but in the hospital O.R. not the surgical center by the docs office

I haven't had a pain med refill since early June. I've stretched out what I had and would take some when I was suffering too much.

I was about ready to give up. There are times when the pain gets the best of me, but I don't want to start back up regularly just to try and quit again. But geez I'm at my limit!

Dear Tim, I hope some relief will soon be there for you. It has been a long Summer fighting the pain and very little medication to combat the nasty "pain demon".

I know you have done your best to keep active and I do not know how you have done it.

When are they going to schedule the O.R.?

You da Man! I so pray this works for you as well as it has for me.I'm coming up on a year in Nov. Remember this is surgery and you will be tender for months. You need to force yourself to take it slow. Why the hurry, anyway. I don't want to scare you but sneezing is going to stink.I never sneezed except after my surgery.Funny now but remember you were warned. I am blessed but still have panic moments of what if this stops working? Getting more confident every day but you do not live with our pain and not be changed forever. I get a refill on the 19th and do not go back for 2 or 2 1/2 months. No other meds are being taken and am grateful for that. Not pain free but just a freer pain I can live with. Give myself bolus boost 3 times daily but hardly notice and not sure it isn't just habit.I am forever changed by living through pain I wish would kill me. Better days ahead my friend. Thanks for sharing with others. Tom

Hey Tim~~

That's great news - now the countdown starts. I will be praying this is soon and that you can get the relief needed.

I was supposed to have my fusion operation this morning with one spine specialist but hubby wanted me to get several opinions of which I did. I have decided to go with the first surgeon I saw for this problem a year ago. He is really a great spine doc. He's been pushing for me to have the SCS implant done (he has the flat panel one) and said he has no guarantees and if it doesn't work then yes the fusion surgery. My thoughts, and same with family/friends, that I should have fusion first then if still in pain the SCS implant.

So trying to corner my DH so that we can meet with spine doc and get fusion surgery set up. Not looking forward to a fusion but am looking forward to having the "crunch, pinch and ouch" taken care of!! LOL

Anyway that is great news

Hey Tim - we will be praying for you - the surgery will be fine and you will be doing so much better afterwards.

I'm envious that you are getting this - and I will be going thru back surgery again too but not for the pain pump - another fusion - UGH so I can understand you being scared - I'm scared too -

I just hope that if I do continue to have chronic severe pains that they will ok me to have the pain pump - hate having to rely on pain pills and waiting for them to kick in -

GOD Bless you and we will be praying for you~~

God has blessed you! You know it and I know it. I had 2 neck surgeries in 1995 and my appendix removed in 2005.I swore no more invasion of my body. This last surgery was God's will Tim. I truly believe though I had the ultimate decision,it wasn't even a close call. God wanted me to live and maybe even thrive again. I would rather have died on the table then continue to exist. This worked for me beyond my wildest dreams. You deserve just a little comfort.Just a little is all I asked. Probably not the best response to you being terrified but think of the end game! What's the goal here? You can and will get your life back. You have to many people pulling for you.Strength in numbers. God loves you and will keep you safe. Peace my friend! Just a little peace. Tuload54. I appreciate your optimistic take on this and optimism and faith bread good spirits and more successful healing.

When I consider the accident (long story involving a big tree and a not so big me) and that it should have killed me instantly I feel blessed. To know that my spinal cord was displaced over an inch as my spinal column collapsed on itself losing 3" of vertical length is a miracle no doubt. I have a hard time seeing anyone n a wheel chair or such.

Luck...I like to refer myself metaphorically as the three legged one eyed dog named "Lucky"

Thank you so much for the kind words.

Tim

Hey Tim~~

Will be praying for you~~When do you go in???

I'm so envious and also so happy for you that you are getting this done. I can only imagine that you will be getting back a lot of your life back. Can't wait to hear all about it~~

After I have my fusion I think I will push to have the pain pump done. I would rather have this instead of the SCS. Let us know how u are doing~~take care~~
