8th level fusion - worse decision of my life
    An_258458 posted:
I had an 8 level fusion in November, 2014 and have been house bound ever since and I'm really regretting what I have done, The pain and the loneliness have been unbearable. Lost my job because my FMLA ran out - and I am at my wits end. Started to go to a pain specialist but the ironic part (???) is that's why I decided on the surgery as I didn't want to keep have to take pain meds and get injections, so I thought. Stupidly thinking that the pain was going to disappear and not it seems worse than ever. I don't know about other chronic pain suffers - but,,,when will it END!

Hi and welcome to the support group

unfortunately chronic pains seem to take over our lives but knowing to see the right pain docs can mean all the difference.

I see a PHYSIATRIST Pain Specialist as they go deeper into pain management control and will try to get to the underlying aspect of where the pains r coming from. There are numerous treatment plans from having a trial Spinal Cord Stimulator implant or a pain pump implant plus other treatments.

I've had 2"fusion surgeries and I hurt worse than the first one but am glad I found this pain specialist.

question - did you apply for short term or long term disability benefits thru your employer if they have it? Should help if they do.

keep us posted how you are doing

It's only August'd you have surgery in November? If it was 2013 it's been almost 9 months. It takes a good year to recover from such an invasive surgery. Which 8 vertebrae were fused?

Things like this take time to heal, I guess your boss doesn't understand that
