    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

I frequently reply to posts giving a list of sites that have been helpful to me for discovering information about my spinal conditions. I thought it may be helpful to create a resource for that list.

WebMD Back Pain Health Center: http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/default.htm

    Spine-Health: http://www.spine-health.com/

    Spine Universe: http://www.spineuniverse.com/

    Chiro Geek: http://www.chirogeek.com/

Anyone can use these sites when performing research about recent a diagnosis or symptoms. Chiro Geek has an excellent page that helps with interpreting MRI results.

I hope this list helps in understanding spinal issues and understanding causes and treatment options.
    Blessings,

    -Dave

    Hi Dave,
This is the first I've come to this community. I usually hang out on the other pain community.

If you get a chance, please hop over to the other site and tell me about your sleep number or temperpedic bed. If I recall, you've posted about it before.

    Thanks,
    Beth

    Hi Dave,
I have to say, the chriogeek has the best name of a website- and it was incredibly helpful for my chronic back pain. It gets really bad towards the end of the day and I'm glad to finally get some relief!

Until recently I did not know how much added weight could add to pain, issues with my back, I gained weight quiet rapidly and although I was aware of the high blood pressure and high cholesterol that could hinder other health issues, i did not know how much a 35 pound weight gain could affect my spine I have had 4 cervical fusions and 1 lumbar interbody fusion, and a microdiskectomy spread out over thee past 10 years, I was in a lot of pain, and as for me that was a common thing, until I went on line in search for a really fast way to take off the added weight, I found a company called RocaLabs Gastric Bypass Without Surgery formula, and I started this program on November 18th, I weighed myself on November 26th, and I had lost 8 pounds rather quickly, I noticed a big change in how I felt, I know for a fact that my weight affects my spine and my plan is to stick to the RocaLabs formula to not only lose my added weight but to keep it off once I have lost it, i hope others can see the connection, that even a few added pounds can cause problems with back pain as you are adding even more weight to your already damaged spine.

Thanks, Dave, for the websites...great postings from you and thanks for the heart of gold. I have just moved from CA to FL. I didn't know about FL having all this drug problem in the state. I agree with getting drug usage undercontrol, but what about people like me who need them. I spoke with the state Pharm guy this AM and I see where he is coming from, but what a problem with those of us who need pain meds who have all the data, MRIs, CTs, X-rays, etc. Thankfully I belong to a great YMCA (Brooks in Jax, FL) and a super church. I am still trying to work with pain mgmt place. They are so into "injections" when it is not warranted. I went to USC and they said I needed liquid meth and to take it for 2.5 yrs. I couldn't do that!! Now, I can't get any help. Luckily, I still have some meds from CA. What a way to live. Tha pain just takes over your mind at times. Thanks fro your contributions to this site. Susan

    Dave,

Please do tell me what do you look for in a mattress ( not real expensive) for spinal and pain problems. That would be terrific! I have tumors at the L4-5, S1 and the neck and night time just kills me. I hate when night comes...trying to sleep. I did find out that if you don't sleep you gain weight alot. That has certainly happened to me... Susan

    Hello, Susan.

If you are looking for a new mattress, then you need to go to stores and lay on the mattresses. You need to find one that feels right for you.

To be honest, the best mattress I have ever slept on is our sleep number bed. Worth every penny.
