My name is Jason. I'm 26. For the past 6 or 7 years I have had severe neck and back pain. About a year ago I was diagnosed with a winged scapula. Recently the pain has become more and more apparent in my right shoulder. It makes me think the neck and back pain was just referred pain from the shoulder. I'm beginning to lose function in my right trap muscle. Sometimes the pain feels like its under my arm somewhere along the rib cage, and other times it feels like it is directly under my shoulder blade. Recently the pain has been so bad that bright lights seem to make the pain radiate throughout my body and I've even experience pain in my teeth and jaw. I'm a full time college student and after sitting for long hours, the pain is so unbearable that it restricts my breathing and i find myself becoming dizzy and overwhelmed with anxiety. Nothing seems to make the pain go away. I don't remember what it feels like to just relax. I don't know what else to do. I tried physical therapy with no positive results. I tried drugs but felt like a zombie, so I got off the medication. It is obvious that i do in fact have slight scapular winging. I have been in many skateboarding and four wheeling/ dirt bike accidents, so the cause of the injury is unknown. I guess what I am looking for is either someone with a similar condition, or someone who knows anything about shoulder pain / scapular winging and can shed some light on my condition. I just want to know more about the shoulder, the condition, and what to expect in the future. Any suggestions on how to cope with or improve my condition will be greatly appreciated.
