Super Bad Shoulder Pain

GibsonLesPaul posted:
My name is Jason. I'm 26. For the past 6 or 7 years I have had severe neck and back pain. About a year ago I was diagnosed with a winged scapula. Recently the pain has become more and more apparent in my right shoulder. It makes me think the neck and back pain was just referred pain from the shoulder. I'm beginning to lose function in my right trap muscle. Sometimes the pain feels like its under my arm somewhere along the rib cage, and other times it feels like it is directly under my shoulder blade. Recently the pain has been so bad that bright lights seem to make the pain radiate throughout my body and I've even experience pain in my teeth and jaw. I'm a full time college student and after sitting for long hours, the pain is so unbearable that it restricts my breathing and i find myself becoming dizzy and overwhelmed with anxiety. Nothing seems to make the pain go away. I don't remember what it feels like to just relax. I don't know what else to do. I tried physical therapy with no positive results. I tried drugs but felt like a zombie, so I got off the medication. It is obvious that i do in fact have slight scapular winging. I have been in many skateboarding and four wheeling/ dirt bike accidents, so the cause of the injury is unknown. I guess what I am looking for is either someone with a similar condition, or someone who knows anything about shoulder pain / scapular winging and can shed some light on my condition. I just want to know more about the shoulder, the condition, and what to expect in the future. Any suggestions on how to cope with or improve my condition will be greatly appreciated.

hello Jason, I am sorry you are in so much pain. I really hope you can find some relief soon. I had shoulder and neck pains (Osteoarthritis, pinched nerves, bone spures etc.) starting at a young age but kept thinking it would eventually go away. Now that I am so much older, I wish I had done something a lot sooner. To live in so much pain is just not acceptable. I should have looked for the best specialist to have the problem treated correctly while my body was still more capable of recovering. So even though I am not familiar with your specific problem I think it wood be a good idea to seek effective treatment as soon as possible. Painkillers are not likely to fix a structural issue and can be addictive. The only real healing takes place when the issue is properly addressed. Take good care of yourself.

Jason, I don't know if you have noticed this community has had very little recent activity. I actually left a post there a while ago to see if anyone was still visiting and when I returned I found your post. You are in some trouble and I hate to leave you unsupported. There is so little I can do for you. I am not a specialist or a whole community. Just one person. You deserve more. why don't you google for Inspire or another one of those huge communities? Hope this tip won't get me into trouble, but this just would not be right to leave you in this desert town.
