THE BIPOLAR BRAIN
avatar
Doxielover10 posted:
I've been told so many times that bipolar brains work five times faster than a normal brain. I'm always on some cause, politics, religion, sex, animals etc. I've also been told that having an IQ of 167 has probably saved my butt on many occasions because I realize a way out when others cannot. Hell, Winston Churchill was bipolar.

Having this info means nothing, I want to know WHY OUR BRAINS DO THIS.? i'VE LOOKED FOR THE ANSWER BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY BIPOLAR BRAINS ARE SO UNUSUAL ?

LOL, I have been an insomniac forever, going 3, 4, 5 days with no sleep with no negative symptoms . When we discovered I was the bipolar from hell, my doctor freaked out. Bipolars have to have sleep or a nightmare from hell will occur.

I took every single sleep medication on the market , the last one was dalmane at double the dose. . I was getting really upset because I love my doctor and I did not want him to worry but I'm just a person who does not require a lot of sleep.

We made a deal that I would lie down and chill during the day. I am never going to have a regular sleep schedule so I'm doing it this way.

I'm slowly recovering and if I got control of my bipolar issues, I can do anything.

I have worked with hundreds of women that have been in bad relationships. I have heard it all LOL., I want you to keep in touch with me so I can monitor what is happening.

As I told you before, you deserve a man that loves and worships you.

So true Dyanne... Funny you say that too, I can remember being 3 and getting bored with counting because I could just count forever. And I have always been the same with work too, 12 hr shifts anytime I could find them.

Gosh, how mad all my pdocs and tdocs have gotten because of my sleep patterns, but I just can't. Sleeping aides perk me right up, along with many of the narcotics I have been prescribed for pain. But like you, I have just embraced it.

Oh yeah don't scare me about 40, 25 damn near killed me and 30 scares the hell outta me LOL.

Oh believe me I've been there, I am still having the breakdown but the meds I have are good. I have no idea how long this will last but I'm determined to do what my docs tell me to do.

Are you on bipolar meds ?

Speaking of staying in your skin , what I'm going through right now is just horrible. I shake so much I can't walk, talk, hold a fork or a pen, fortunately my bipolar stuff has not showed up yet.

PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH

I'm on meds but have been manic since I started them in April. The last one I was on stopped working then i got locked up, and signed up with a new pdoc. Well, I have called this woman more times than I can count and keep getting dismissed. I have now been pushed back to Aug. 11 even though I quit taking the Adivan on my own...she didn't care. So, just wait longer seems to be the consensus, ugh.

The shakes and stuff??? is that related to your meds??? are you on an atypical anti psychotic??? I hope you're hanging in there and doin ok, I still check in here but I've been so irritable and pissed off at my life, I just spend time with my kids to keep them and myself calm until there dad gets here, then I do what I can to avoid him without making it too obvious. It's just kind of a struggle right now so I haven't been here as much.

Please though, if you want to talk post to me, I check in every so often anyway.... Take care HUGS ~ Tessa

I've been on meds for a long time, I had a very hard time finding meds . I have a HUGE tolerance to drugs so most of the meds most people take do not work for me..When I had the renal failure I was taking 16 drugs both atypical and anti psychotic. I was taken off all meds .

I think you should find another shrink, this woman sounds like a total incompetent and you are going to crash and burn really badly. if you don't find another doctor and find meds that will help you the disease will just get worse. My doctor who is a genius, voted one of the best docs in America told me a long time ago that every manic attack is an assault on the brain and the brain cannot sustain many attacks, that is why you see many bipolars so messed up because they don't take their meds..

KEEP IN TOUCH WITH ME

ALLISON

The shaking is from having a nervous breakdown, , so many things were going on that I had a total mental and emotional breakdown. and I'm doing all of the things my doctors have ordered.

So impressed. I always wanted to finish my DPT, but impossible. Twins, pre teen, bipolar not on right meds, OCD, and can not process stimulus/stress and traveling military husband. I did however grad. with Suma Cum Laude, but that took all I had and even consumed me to the point of not playing with daughter or being there for her. So as of right now, I'll say maybe. Maybe when I'm stable, and twins are in school. Hopeful atleast. But very impressive, thanks for sharing.

Awe thanks! You made me smile. Oh I know it's hard girl! I have a 2,3, and 4 yr old and my 3 yr old has autism spectrum disorder. I didn't do it until I was pregers with my youngest cause my kids dad cheated and left us homeless, so that was basically my only option at the time, get in school and collect financial aid.

You get your feet under you girl and you'll be on top of the world again. You are very smart and Suma Cum Laude is no small feat. I'm very impressed too .

This will all settle down for you in time, just focus on stability for now and before you know it, all the doors and windows will be open for you again. (((((((((( littlerunaway))))))))))))))))

Psychiatry's diagnostic criteria are literally Voted into existence and inserted into the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM). What is voted in is a system of classification of symptoms that is drastically different from, and foreign to, anything in medicine. None of the diagnoses are supported by objective evidence of physical disease, illness, or science.

What makes it a science is the objective methods of the scientific method to conduct research. If you are familiar with that term then, it includes objective collection of scientific data, typically from observation, survey, blind studies, and so forth.

All medicine is based upon symptoms.... isn't it? Docs don't just start ordering tests on you liver if you go in with a headache.

Again, psychiatry is a relatively young SCIENCE, and it falls into the category of natural science not physical science.

And natural science incudes they empircal method, generally taken to mean the approach of using a collection of data to base a theory or derive a conclusion in science.

Linked to, may, its thought , it is hoped...... that people may belive in the myth of the chemical Imbalance theory and belive they have a physical disease requiring physical drug treatment.
