I am taking 200mg of lamtical and 60mg of cymbalta. These last few months I have been under A LOT of stress and so my panic attacks have been getting worse. I had one last night to the point I felt like I couldn't swallow and the attack even worse. The biggest stressful thing is the very real fact of losing our house and literally having no place to go if we do. I have told my pdoc this, I can't continue having these attacks. He tells me this is what the cymbalta is supposed to help. Well its not. I can't increase the dosage cause it causes me to have constipation. So I ask him him about anything in the benzo group like Xanax or Klonpin. He then tells me it will mess with my cogitative ability. I told him awhile back about that and wondered if the lamtical was doing it and he said yes. I do not know what to do any more. I hate this. I hate that I don't see it coming and it hits me without warning and I am driving!!! The biggest factor is the feeling of not being able to swallow and it makes it worse. Is there anything I can do?? I can';t keep doing this. I been trying all the deep breath and counting but its hard when you feel like you can't swallow and you are gonna throw up.
Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission.....

Dear Shania, I'm not in a position to advise you about what medicines to take, other than to concur with your doctor that Cymbalta may help anxiety and benzodiazepines can cause cognitive problems. Lamictal has no known anti-anxiety properties. when people are experiencing specific anxiety in response to life stresses, medicines may not be that helpful, and psychotherapy may be more useful to help with coping.
