I live in Arizona where we only have two seasons, Summer and Winter.
Our record heat was 122 degs, in the shade. During the Summer it gets so hot that the asphalt gets softer and my high heels get stuck in it. No joking. During the winter it can get cold enough to snow in the desert.

hot enough to fry an egg on a car

Arizona has some very beautiful scenery.

We are the Grand Canyon State but we are also famous for a few other things

Geronimo

Route 66

Lost Dutchman and his gold mine. Nobody has ever found his gold mine.

Superstition Mountains. The story goes, if you try to find the Lost Dutchmans mine, you will for ever be lost in the Superstition Mountains. Once you go in, you never come out.

Phoenix

The famous fight out at the O.K. Corral

Meteor hit Winslow Arizona long ago and left a crater a mile long and 500 feet deep.

We even have a Petrified Forrest. The myth is, if you steal any petrified wood from the area, you will have bad luck until you have returned the wood.

and we even have the London Bridge

We also have the meanest Sherrif in the world, Joe Arpaio. He is famous for making Tent City, making the inmates wear pink under ware, chain gangs, having some female inmates train stray dogs before finding them homes, also Joe Arpaio's posse of retired men and women, etc

and of course I cant leave out the MOST famous person in Arizona.....ME!!

I'm just outside the city limits of Tampa, FL. This is our downtown.

Home of a thriving baseball team

Each year Tampa host Gasparilla which is a festival remembering the invasion of pirate, Jose Gaspar. Why we celebrate the raping and pillaging of the womenfolk here, I don't know. LOL

We have many historic places, but the University of Tampa is one of the oldest buildings. It was once a grand hotel built by railroad mogel Henry B. Plant as a destination. The spires on top are called minarets. It is rumored that the upper floor utilized mainly as a storage area is haunted. The remainder of the building is used as classroom space and adminstrative offices for the University. I attended this school in the early 90's.

We have a famous bridge here called the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It was erected after a barge rammed the original causeway which was destroyed May 9, 1980 by a freighter which hit the original bridge killing 35 people. This bridge is the flagship bridge of Florida.

And of course I cannot forget our beautiful beaches. I took this photo from the top of Fort De Soto overlooking the beaches of Mullet Key. Fort De Soto was the stronghold for the Tampa Bay area during the Spanish-American War.

And this is my home...Tampa, FL.

LMAO re- Why we celebrate the raping and pillaging of the womenfolk here, I don't know.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge would terrify me. Way too tall. I hate going over tall bridges.

Ive always wanted to visit Florida and walk along the white sand beaches. I have never seen a beach with white sand. It must be absolutely beautiful.

I live in Beech Island, SC, whose "catch phrase" is that we are neither a Beach, nor an Island.

It is about five minutes away from Augusta, GA, which is most famously known for the Augusta National - ie. where they hold the Masters gold tournament every year:

We were also home to the famous James Brown, who was accused of beating his wife multiple times, having numerous children out of wedlock, and yet still managed to have both three streets, four buildings, and a stadium named after him:

Our biggest and longest standing sports or entertainment of any sort is a baseball team called the Augusta Greenjackets, of which my son is a huge fan:

The weather is near-constantly muggy, and we don't usually have "winter" until February, which is typically the coldest month of the year. Our temps also tend to wildly fluctuate throughout the day:

There is a lot of history here and there are people who are constantly fighting for restoration of old houses and/or buildings:

We also have a lot of war memorials around [the one below was actually partially funded and put up by my ex's grandfather; it has the names of those local soldiers who fell in the war>:

We are also the proud home-town of Lady Antebellum [the drummer is actually the son of a physician I schedule for at work>:

That's about it for us ... sounds awesome, but the cost of living versus the pay rate is hard sometimes, and Georgia is also known for charging out-rageous prices for electricity, so every year we have a number of deaths for heat-stroke, especially in older folk who live alone. We have a lot of poor areas with people who live off of state funding because they simply refuse to work, but who continue to have child after child after child. We have a relatively high crime-rate, and unfortunately the schooling is in a very sad state right now [which is the reason I deliberately used my ex-mother-in-law's address for my son's school, so he could go to a south carolina school instead of GA, when I lived right across the border>.

Then again, we also have a lot of great home-town artists and musicians, so if you know a few 'underground' contacts, you can see and hear a lot of great up-and-coming peeps.

Hey San Honey, I love old houses and old buildings. Its a shame when they get torn down in order to build new ones. Its wonderful that there are ppl in your area willing to fight for the preservation of old building.

I hear ya about the ppl living off of state funding and not even trying to find a job and continuing to have children. uuuggghhhh. Instead of funding them in any way they should simply send them thousands of condoms. Ooooohhhh dont get me started cause I wont shut up. LOL

So anyways, its cool to know about the place where you live.

I"m from Southern Indiana site of only the second Civil War battle fought on Northern Soil. My great great great uncles came over from Germany in the late 1800's and started the first grist mill in Harrison County. The mill stood until the state made my family tear it down in the 40's. We also had family members fight in the war of 1812 and as a result were given land grants signed by Govenor Willam Henry Harrison. A cousin even discovered a major cave system while coon hunting that is a national landmark. Now I live in Grand Prairie, TX who's claim to fame is that it's not Dallas and it's not Fort Worth (lol). We have relatively good unemployement so a lot of people are coming here driving up the costs of food and housing, but hopefully our lease won't go up. We renew in two months and when we were in paying our rent the gal told us that they're about 97% full and all they've got are mainly one bedrooms. Summers are hot, kinda like you Cookie, Winters aren't that bad except for the idiot moron drivers who don't know how to drive in the snow. I love Spring, it's gorgeous, and Fall isn't that bad. We've got several baseball teams in the area, The Rangers of course, Frisco Rough Riders,Fort Worth Bats, and I forget Grand Prairie's team. The Air Hogs, I think??????
I've seen two Ranger's games since moving hear and Matt says if they make they playoffs again this year we may go for my birthday. That would be something special. Especially if somehow Atlanta pulled off a miracle made it to the world series again. yea, like that's gonna happen.

Well that's me.

GGGGGOOOOOOOO DENVER BRONCO'S!!!!! Colorado is such a beautiful state. I went there during the summer with my best friend. We hiked up this never ending friggin mountain to Ruby Lake. The entire time we were hiking I was afraid that a Grizzly bear was going to come running out of the forest and eat me. The exhausting hike was well worth it because Ruby lake was so very pretty.

Its so sad that the state of Indiana made your family tear down their mill. Can you imagine what it would look like today?

You have trouble with moron drivers who cant drive in the snow and we have trouble with moron drivers who can drive if its raining. It hardly ever rains and when it does everyone on the road panics.
