I was wondering if any of the meds I am currently on could be impacting my gastrointestinal health. My stomach is a wreck with lots of erosion and I am waiting on the gastro to prescribe a med. But I've got a pdoc appt next week and want to go armed to request different meds if they do. I'm taking Lamictal, Trileptal and Seroquel (no extended release). And should I be worried about absorption and timing issues with something like Protonix? I'm concerned about timing that dose with the psyche meds. I'd rather live with a bad stomach than loose control of the BP again. Thanks!

Joseph F Goldberg, MD responded:
Dear Melly,

Seroquel can sometimes cause constipation, but apart from that, nothing on your list poses particular GI issues. No concerns with PPI's like Protonix, and no issue about absorption with vs. without food.
