Bipolar Diagnosis

Hi Everyone,
My diagnosis is fairly new and I've been coping well with medications and visits with my doctor. My question is...is the uncontrollable anger part of the bi-polar experience? Also, I have found that I am "stuck" on one particular event that occurred while manic, before diagnosis. I can't let it go or the person that was involved in it with me. How do you forgive yourself?
Thanks for your time.

Are you in therapy? That has been an important part of my healing process. I have done CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). I will admit it was kind of a long process for me but I stuck with it and it helped me a lot. I am currently in therapy that is more of just a "talk" therapy right now. CBT really did help me change my thought process and let go of the past. I have let go of the guilt. It doesn't mean it doesn't rear its ugly head from time to time but I am usually able to move on and let it go and not let myself get bogged down by those old negative memories.
Nice to have you with us. Hope you will join in and we will hear more from you. We have a "daily post" usually where we just share our day to day moods and happenings. Feel free to join in. Take care!

PS...I forgot to mention the anger. It might be different for everyone but for me, my anger usually comes out when I am overwhelmed and don't feel in control of things. I don't know if that is just me or a bipolar thing. Again, therapy has helped me with that. I still get angry but usually, I can keep it in check instead of ranting and raving like I used to. I have learned to relax and let it go (sometimes that is easier than others).

Hi DizzyJgirl,
I was in therapy long before diagnosis, but currently, no. I'm just getting stable on the meds, after a long, arduous journey. I wonder sometimes if the meds are worse than the Bipolar. Anyway, I have found it is necessary for me to take very small steps with this recovery. If I get overwhelmed, I shut down. As far as the anger goes, it's new...or at least the way it manifests is new. I watched a show last night about kids with Bipolar and anger was a big signal. That's why I wondered. As far as participating with this group, I'm just glad I'm not alone! So glad I found it!
