lithium after gastric bypass

Hi! I'm new to this community but I'm having a hard time with a new dx and tx regimine. I was recently dx bipolar (not a big surprize) and started on lithium 300mg q12 hrs. My concern is that I had a gastric bypass 6 months ago. Meds don't stay in my system...I take my multivitamin 3 times a day! My ssri & adhd meds are divided am & 12pm. I reminded my rx np but he still chose a low dose q12 hours! Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kelly
