When one is suicidal, is posting with the username confidential? or, will anything such as a crisis be reported to authorities? Approximately five or six yrs ago I had joined this group; I have been stable at times and very bottomed out intermittently; frequent episodes ...

The first thing to keep in mind is that all WebMD communities are public message boards. Anyone can access the WebMD site, get to the communities and read the posts whether or not they are logged in. If you want to post you must log in.

Second, your username is as private as you want it to be. Many use some variation of their real name. Some use nicknames that have nothing to do with their real names. So, the actual username really has nothing to do with confidentiality.

Third, you can stay as anonymous as you would like even if you use your registered username. Many do share their locations and other personal information. Some do not. How much of yourself that you want to reveal is entirely up to you.

Fourth, whether you post using your real name or anonymously, the WebMD staff knows who initiated the post. When there were actual moderators for the communities, I know there were times when they could actually contact a member if they were in crisis.

If you are suicidal, I hope you are reaching out and getting the help you need. Please call a crisis hot line or talk to a close friend or family member if necessary.

I pray you are still OK and that I was able to help.

Thank you, Dave. I am so sorry that you have been dealing with very severe pain for so long which cannot be helped by strong pain meds. You are amazing and I am glad that you are helped by your faith in God.

Usually reading the Bible and praying helps me to stay pretty upbeat At least, I can present to the world this way; however, I know the Lord knows how I am really feeling inside most of the time - either crazy reckless or totally not functioning.

I have not been on this community for five years or so. I used to post and respond to posts back then; was misdiagnosed & treated for years with severe depr.. I don't see most of the folks who used to post at that time & I pray they are alive and doing well.

Thanks for caring, Dave. I emailed a support group but haven't heard back yet. The thoughts are less, but I still have a strong plan and the means to follow through. If I just try to sleep and am unconscious for awhile, it helps. It helps if I can make myself pray or remember Scripture.

I called off from work today. Have usually been able to work a part-time job, btwn 19 & 28 hrs/week. Used to be an RN for 18 yrs but had chronic problems because of undiagnosed adult ADD and bipolar. Got into trouble with two major manic episodes. Unable to work since then for more than three months at a time but never applied for disability: was too exhausted and depressed to apply when ill and when functional, would think that I didn't need to apply and as long as I can work I am okay. This job I have been able to keep because they work with me for FMLA. I am a cashier so it is much less $. We are in the middle of foreclosure and trying to fight it; trouble for long time paying bills and having money to buy food. Thank God for food pantries and community outreach. Just is really hard and exhausting to hook up with these places and it is a one-time deal each place.

I would just give in to the foreclosure and live simply or be homeless if it weren't for my disabled husband (spine spurs, stenosis, spondolythysis (sp?), degenerative disc disease and more). He survives by meds prescribed by a pain specialist and has a passion for turning reclaimed wood into vases, etc. He does this in our garage.

Our house is a total disaster. Piles of clothes, papers, clutter, dust and more. Unfortunately I am not manic often!!

Sorry to ramble but it is very calming to me to vent to someone. I appreciate your patience and most of all that you cared enough to reach out. Thank-you & blessings to you, Dave! May you have much relief of pain and also that you would feel refreshed & restored. God be with you.
davedsel replied to debylew's response:
debylew, I am very relieved and thrilled that you posted again. As you have noted, I fully understand the combination of chronic pain plus emotional issues and empathize with your current situation. We are in the process of getting a mortgage modification as my wife is now also disabled from a work-related back injury. God WILL provide and make a way.

Please know you can have the victory over this. Use your faith, your family, anything you can to pull through. It will be worth it all.

Please continue to post and vent. We are here and we do understand.
