Dr G: toxicity or random ailment

    Hello again Dr G,

This morning (about 4 hours ago) I noticed numbness in two fingers on my right hand. My lithium levels were increased to 1.1 or 1.2 just in the last few weeks so I am worried about toxicity. I have some other side effects of lithium (mild tremor, dizziness, constat thirst) that I had before. I am only 30 so I am pretty sure it isn't stroke symptoms or anything like that. I am just wondering if I need to be seen right away or if a simple call to the doc will suffice. Thank you!

    Dear Sarah,
Hard to diagnose something over the internet in a forum like this, but, generally speaking, numb fingers aren't a common lithium side effect. If just in one hand....more likely a pinched nerve.
