Imperfection is really fear of failure or acceptance...but in reality people are drawn to imperfection and vulernbility is what endears people to us. perfection is not only not possible but subjective and real people hate those who come too close. Fear of beautiful women?...now we know why you feel safe here.

and i have a fear that wasnt on there.. I have a fear of getting old.. i have ever since I was little I dont like birthdays cause it means i am getting older.. my 23rd birthday is in aug and im already dreading it...

Ames, this is something to discuss with a therapist. Unreasonable fears that interfer with your life are not good things. Often once you uncover the trauma or event and see it through grown-up eyes, you can realize once and for all that you don't have to be afraid.
As for 23, that is a scary age...once you live past 50 you get free from all those pressures. I would not go back for anything but enjoy every years I get older. Joye

Kitten honey, I agree with you. Its not easy to get over many things. Ive seen different therapist for over 11 yrs, and I still havent gotten over many, many problems, no matter how often we work/worked at it. It just isnt that simple.

I didn't say it was easy. I went to a therapist 8 years but am happy to have someone guide me to the place where I could let go of some of my fears while becoming better prepared to face the ones that would not ever go away. You don't have to live in fear and you don't have to feel out of control of your life. Good therapist do help. It does not happen over night but often takes years to resolve. I am happy I did that and encourage you to free yourself in a similar manner. For spiritual matters, all churchs offer private counseling to bring you to a place of peace and understanding. You life does not have to be as hard as it is for you. I'd like to see it get better. Joye

I hope this thread is still open. This is 2011. I have lilapsophobia (fear of tornadoes). I recently moved to Oklahoma, and we just had a very horrific tornado season. I can't move away. I recently got a storm shelter which helped me feel much better. I want to make sure I can get over this phobia all the way(like when I'm traveling or something).

I recently moved to Oklahoma, and we just had a very horrific tornado season. I can't move away. I recently got a storm shelter which helped me feel much better. I want to make sure I can get over this phobia all the way(like when I'm traveling or something).

I can understand your fear. When you live in an area such as Oklahoma, being fearful of a tornado, especially after going through a bad season, would be expected. Im glad you have a storm shelter now and you feel a bit safer. Stay safe.
