I'm a newbie!

I thought I'd seen it all after dealing with depression, panic disorder & anxiety since I was quite young. Recently I was diagnosed with Depersonalization Disorder/Dissociative Disorder. Big words that are scary and the experiences I've had in the last year and a half have been even more frightening. I've done self-harm and when I'm doing it I don't remember anything; no pain, nothing. I checked myself into a Behavioral Health Unit for a week so I can find out more about these disorders and how they are treated. How do you describe your experiences of self-harm when you don't understand or remember them? Many of my "former friends" have dropped out of sight because they don't want to deal with it. I came here because this is like being a person outside yourself sometimes and it's difficult to handle. I've done as much research as I can and it's like they might as well put my name on the diagnosis; abuse, both physical & emotional as a child, trauma, sexual assault and the list goes on. Unfortunately, I've experienced all of these and for years I never spoke about them. I'm trying to put my puzzle pieces back together and I'm prepared for the long haul. Thanks for letting me vent and I hope I haven't bored you to tears. I've cried so much over the years I want to be able to smile both on the inside as well as the outside. I'm seeking support from others who know what it feels like and hope to be there for you in return.
