HI, I HAVE HAD THIS ''BALL LIKE MASS' IN MY RIGHT BREAST, UNFORTUNATELY I DONT HAVE ECONOMICAL MEANS TO SEE A DOCTOR AND TESTS RIGHT AWAY...SO I APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL HELP, I'VE BEEN APPROVED BUT MY APPT IS NOT TILL MAY 24th... I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WAITING EXCEPT THE MASS HAS BEEN GROWING AND ITS PAINFUL NOW, SPECIALLY TODAY... SINCE I WOKE UP I HAVE SHOOTING PAIN IN MY BREAST ITS EVEN HARD TO MOVE... I THOUGHT OF GOING TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, AND I CALLED A FRIEND SO SHE CAN BABYSIT FOR ME...SHE SAID YES, BUT THEN ADVISED ME THAT IF I GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, THEY WILL ONLY CALM MY PAIN AND THEN REFER ME TO GO SEE A OB/GYN AND DISCHARGE ME... IS THIS TRUE? BECAUSE IS THEY ARE ONLY GOING TO GIVE ME PAINKILLERS AND TELL ME SOMETHING I ALREADY KNOW (LIKE-GO SEE A DOCTOR) THEN THERES REALLY NO POINT OF GOING... I WAS THINKING SINCE IM IN SUCH PAIN, THEY MIGHT DO SOME TEST AND DISCHARGE ME ONLY WHEN THEY KNOW WHAT I HAVE .. IF IS BREAST CANCER OR SOMETHING ELSE... DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY DIAGNOSED YOU COMPLETELY OR THEY JUST REFER YOU TO GO SEE A SPECIALIST?? I WANT TO HAVE AN IDEA BECAUSE I DONT HAVE INSURANCE, AND IF IM GOING TO PAY FOR AN EMERGENCY ROOM VISIT WELL IT MIGHT AS WELL BE PRODUCTIVE (THEY TELLING ME WHAT I HAVE) ... IF NOT THEN I'LL JUST ENDURE THE PAIN TILL I CAN BE SEEN... THANKS IN ADVANCE...

Hi,
I am not sure what the emergency room in your area will do, but I would call the place you have your appointment and see if they can get you in right away! Sharp pains are never a good thing. You need to push to get in sooner.

I agree with Jenna...Talk with your doctor and see what might be arranged.

Also, have you read thru the "Tips" on the right side of this page? There are quite a few ideas regarding expenses when you have little or no insurance. Please check them out as you may find a way to deal with this situation.

You will be in our thoughts.

Blessings.

Hello latingirl,
Have you called a breast care center or even the ER and asked what they could do for you if you came into the office. Even an Urgent care center instead of the ER sometimes they do more for you then an ER does. Sometimes the ER will run test and other times they just give you meds to take care of the pain and tell you to get in to see a doctor that is in the field they think is the problem in this case like you said an OB/GYN. So I really don't know what to tell you but to call around and see what different places could offer you and or do for you now or as soon as possible. But either way you need to be seen soon if you are in that much pain. I wish you the best of luck in everything and getting some answers soon. Angel hugs Roberta,
Roberta

Rachellapelle,
Have you had a mammogram? What does the doctor base his "it's normal" statement on - tests, exam, mammogram, ultrasound, MRI?
You need to have a mammogram and get to a breast clinic, or breast center and be examined by a doctor who specializes in diseases of the breast and could give you a dagnosis.
